Just a quick question, I've been using the S/H search engine and couldn't find a definitive answer. Are these two stocks the same? I am looking to pick up a HS precision take off stock and have a lead on one off a VSSF, just making sure they are the same before I pick it up. Thanks.

Re: VSSF stock vs. PSS stock

Bronx,

The PSS and VSSF have different shapes and contours but the construction is very similar - both have the aluminum bedding blocks - but bedding will still help accuracy. The PSS has a palm swell and a more full forend with practically no taper. The VSSF has a wide beavertail forend but it does have a little taper to it like most varmint rifles. Also the VSSF stock has no palm swell. I changed out the stock on my VSSF for a PSS because I preferred the look and feel of the tactical stock better than the varmint stock. Take a good look at some pictures on Remington's website or their catalogue and you can probably pick out the differences and see which you would like better.

Good shoting! Buck

Re: VSSF stock vs. PSS stock

Thanks Buck. I could have sworn that I had read that palm swell was different, among other things. I just couldn't find any direct comparisons. I had a PSS a few years ago and sold it like a chump. I liked the PSS stock, and I think it'll be a real nice all around stick with my SPS in 20". Thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated.
