Bit the bullet and bought a surefire SOCOM 7.62 mini. Put a couple rounds through it with a 18" 556 and as well as a couple 300 blackout with an 8" barrel at my dealers place. Not the quietest, but I'm also not sure the 220 factory ammo was subsonic out of my gun. 556 was loud but not unbearable. Will have to do additional testing when I have the time and get it chrony'd with some handloads. That being said, I am excited about having a compact little package.

getting ready to order one myself. also for an 8" blackout. wanted a compact package for calling.

does it seem as small as advertised or do you tink a reg Socom 7.62 would be that much better?
I think the portability over the loss of sound reduction will be a good trade off.

post up some pics to drool over.

I honestly like the smaller package. I have a SAS 9" direct thread can and its super quiet but just looks too long on the rifle. The 6.2" SOCOM fits nicely. We have to give up something when it comes to size.

If you don't mind a direct thread on, take a look at the Brevis by Delta P Designs, think it's 5" and 20 ounces, a good deal cheaper too. I have one in 6.5 for my .260 and it works great.

Here's a pic of my SAS next to my 8" upper. Don't have access to the SOCOM right now. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369160446.785108.jpg
