Rifle Scopes Warranty service available for older Leupold/Stevens M3A scopes?

I'm looking at an old used leupold 10x ultra model the problem is that I think it might be a military bringback and don't want to be SOL if it is US property or whatever. Is there a way to tell by looking at it? Or do I need to call leupie to run the serial number?

I would call leupold with the sn. The early ultra models prior to a certain sn were government contract and while legal for you to own, were permanently sealed and are not serviceable.
