i too remain shocked at his restraint and control of his own hard liners. we have been involved in active war against Russia for 5 years. economic action-sanctions and tariffs that have a stated military goal. worse active intelligence and targeting leading to the deaths of many Russian troops using weapons we supply. this is obviously a war. is just short the bombings of the war we have started with Iran.
i have to assume that he believes that any direct combat with us would cause us losses that would turn nuc. seems he is secure in the belief that we couldn't win in a conventional war with Russia. we wouldn't. it seems that there are those amongst our rulers that think a nuc war would be survivable (by them) and a big win for their owners. beyond insanity.
the Euros are acting out because they believe we will back them up like Israel believes the same. the nuc clock is < 5 min from MN.

This has been a proxy war from the beginning with Russia by the U.S., NATO, and EU in some weird attempt to protect Uke. The who and why is the real question (besides the MIC making lots of money) . The U.S. should never have gotten involved period! That includes money and arms.
Direct war with Russia would be a disaster for both sides with no real winner and lots of other countries would be hurt by it too.

The push has been going on since the 50’s. Obama and co were just reckless with policy, causing this mess. Multiple other ex warsaw pact countries went NATO, with out this shit show happening.
Millions killed, tens of millions displaced from their homes, the entire global economy effected, billions in infrastructure destroyed. Raise in food cost, because guess who used to produce a lot of fertilizer. Volatility in the hydro carbon markets because heaven forbid German pipe in Russian gas.
This was a fucking irresponsible way to go about it and could have been accomplished with out all the loss, just more patience, by this time Kiev may have naturally flip, democraticly, with out all the destruction.

But I think the Ukraine thing has too many strings attached. They have been replete with corruption, dating back to the days when Hunter Biden worked for Burisma and then VP Biden was at a PAC on camera, bragging how he got he prosecuting attorney investigating Burisma fired or Ukraine would lose our money.
So, we have been giving them money for a while. And what have they done for us? Have we helped anything?

it seems odd that many in America have a + view of Putin. but people see that he acts in a way deemed consistent with the nat'l interest of Russia. even those that dislike Russia can see that he is not trying to destroy his country. he is trying to make it prosperous and secure. just the opposite of Clinton,Biden,Obama and even Carter who at various strengths were trying to destroy ours. same is seen in heads of France,UK and Germany. several years ago,i remember a poll done here about approval of Putin compared to Obama. Putin out polled him by about 60/30 i recall.
