Re: water proof pens

For databook, I use pencils... Cut to golf pencil length. Work great. Sharpen w. knife in field if needed. Never run out of ink, stop, quit in rain, etc. You can erase/change things on your field and ranging diagrams as needed. They work very well.

For winter patrol, we have '40-degree-below-zero' pens that cost a small fortune, write upside down, in rain, snow, sleet, -30 temps, etc. etc. etc. I guarantee you that if the -40 pen comes out... or if I am wearing a plastic cover on my campaign hat... yer 'gettin a ticket.

Cheers,

Sirhr

They are 10 bucks... but worth it. Ive had the same 2 pens for literally years, only had to replace the refill once. Refills are only $5.

Second for the rite in the rain pens, but you can't beat a good mechanical pencil too.

In Soviet Russia, Space Write in Pencil....

Seriously though, if your surface is coarse, usually a pencil does the trick, any weather, any temp. Otherwise I've got some great art pens that work well in the rain, made for drawing over/through watercolor; can't remember where I picked them up though.
