I am pretty liberal in my humor. To the point that many do not find me funny at all. I can give a huge amount of leeway, but damn i don't see one ounce of humor in that. I wouldn't have in 1890 either.
What an idiot. Had he remained on the force or if he gets another LEO job this will haunt him for ever. Any interaction with anyone basically not a white supremacist will be a opportunity for a lawyer to have a field day.

My friends father forwarded an email with a tasteless-but colorless- joke about Obama from his work computer. After realizing that it was inappropriate he self-reported the incident. After it got out, he was excoriated in the national media as a rascist- which neither he nor the joke is/was-due to his employer and position. His career was ended despite his apology. It's too bad when good people damage their credibility by reposting s#it on the internet. Unfortunately they will likely be judged forever on that one incident. Despite what BLM and company say, those incidents are most likely lapses in judgement, not racism. But, when using good judgement is your job, your credibility and employment are over.
Lesson learned- don't paste s#it on the internet! Wait. S#it. Never mind.

When I was still on the PD I begged rookies to forget that social media even existed.

Within a few months of the initial FB craze we had a Capt in HQ with nothing better to do that would send "friend" requests to all the officers. Most were too scared to deny the request. He spent all day scrutinizing posts and writing formal discipline paperwork on guys.

I ran into him during that time and he had the balls to ask me why I hadn't accepted his friend request. I just laughed and kept walking.

It got really sporty when I was on a Fed task force and would have local officers on the stand in Federal court having their FB posts projected for a jury. They still refused to learn.

is Welsh an idiot?, well probably......but i really doubt hes attending Klan meetings and lyncing Colored folks........and i really dont see why he should lose his job over it.

Your last line is funny as hell. As i said i can ignore a lot. Had that been posted in "socially unacceptable humor" i would have ignored it.

But as I stated any lawyer would have a field day with this. Just look at Bogeybrown's post. He can no longer deal in anyway with LEO. Even with all the evidence in the world, any defense lawyer would grill him and his department.

You would think huh, but it is 2017 and not 1950. If he so much as writes a ticket for jay walking he is doomed. If person has done their "23 and me" and can prove they are not 100% European ancestry. They we get their charges dropped. If someone chooses not to fight it then so be it but anyone with half a "google" will claim he is a racist corrupt person. Whether he is or not will not matter.

I know of a LEO here in Utah that is so un-trusted that there are 3 county courts that will not allow any charges brought by him if he was the only officer involved. He may have retired as he was older when I had my run in with him 12 or so years ago. I was told by his boss, this. Also that he had given the Governor's son a speeding ticket. And his boss also claimed he gave his own mother a speeding ticket. He was so prolific in his ticket writing that the courts felt he couldn't be trusted. He was a statistical anomaly, no warnings ever.. 1mph over and he didn't care. My understanding is he was a very good cop, just super super anal. turned everyone off.

Not the same I know, but if a few people push the courts won't even want to deal with him.

I don't disagree with your premise about the thin skinned snowflakementality. This example is equally about the poor judgement demonstrated by an authority figure. Poor judgement by authority figures is rightfully questioned on The Hide and everywhere else. If you don't discipline poor judgement it becomes much harder to justify GOOD judgement- especially if the good judgement may appear to be suspect by some.

Do you want someone who didn't see any problem with posting this on social media as YOUR Police Chief? Would the Mayor/Council/Insurance underwriter where you live want them?

well i guess for a normal person no one will even notice such meme or it would get this much attention but in this case he is an assistant deputy, i am not saying the meme isn't racist but i think we now live in a world were there are no second chances.

Ya know, after I posted that I realized that you'd hit a sore spot and that I'd probably over reacted. I saw that you'd responded helpfully to my groundskeeping issue and I was ready to apologize for flying off the handle a bit.

Your entrance to the Hide was inauspicious at best, and I'm still not sure how much of a troll you are. My gut tells me that you're a bigger fucktard than I give you credit for, but it's up to you to show us one way or another.

As for TX, that used to mean something before Harris County went Dem and Austin became Portland. Now I take Texans on a case by case basis.

As for Texans and Louisianians breaking balls, I've done it a lot over the hood of a pickup after delightful 14hr days in the TX summer, so we're good there too. Where I got the sand in my twat was you coming across like a northern liberal who's never seen more than the block of Bourbon street in front of their hotel and issuing a judgement on the state.

And in my hypocrisy, I've enjoyed watching Texicans and Okies bust on each other even though I don't think I've ever been to Oklahoma. However, IIRC they were the one state in the country that didn't have a single county go for Hillary, so it's got to be a magical wonderland.

We are witnessing the tyranny of the fragile. We are so splintered that single individuals already constitute palpable interest groups.

I would look at this and ask how we got there. I would look further and ask what interests are served by such a condition, and while I'm looking at that, I'd also look for who's holding the other ends of the strings pulling us into these jams.

Whoever they are, they are not anyone's friends.
