Lately I have been spending more time on the Hide primarily as a result of recovering from surgery and being largely immobile.
Perhaps it has always been this way, but my recent observations are that, a few members get a perverse sense of joy by making broad based statements such as .... paraphrasing.... " We'd be better off with 20% less old people" , they're a drain on society "etc.
Perhaps they are just poking the bear for the sake of a spirited conversation, or trolling - only they know for sure.
However, sadly, based on schools indoctrination and the mentality of the "ME" generation, some truly believe the shit they are spewing.
In addition, while he has his flaws, there are a number of anti-Trumpers even Hate Trumpers on the site . More Trolls? Probably not.
To a degree, I struggle somewhat with this position because I believe that based on the candidates in the last election, the alternative result would have been horrendous/disastrous. To each their own. I believe that we are, for the US citizens here, largely a conservative, firearm loving/believe in our Constitution community- and are well aware that the Democratic/Socialist leftist side wants to disarm us and take away our rights.
Perhaps we need to revisit how our Country came together as a whole in World War II, for the greater good. Yes the stock market is tanking, folks are being required to stay home as a result of the Covid-19/Wuhan virus, and normal our way of life is changing for a few months or more.
Sadly some will die as a result of the outbreak, but we will get through it, and hopefully be stronger as a Nation after this passes.
In closing, the Bear Pit is not for the thin-skinned or faint at heart, that's for sure.
Perhaps we just need to put a couple of the trolls on a restricted diet.
