So I have this Rem 7400 .308 semi auto, and I never shoot it. Posted it up for sale on a forum or two, and a guy offered me a Weatherby Vanguard .270 with a synth stock in trade. Gunbroker shows a value similar to my 7400, so I can always sell it if I make the trade and don't like it. But....

I know nothing about Weatherbys, or .270s. Synth stock = fail, and I assume it has a hunting barrel. Also fail.

I don't really need another project, but just for curiosity's sake, how good are the Weatherbys, and, in particular, the .270 (from a long range standpoint, I am not looking for a hunting rifle)?

They are Howas, good gun, but metric which can make them harder to work on. .270 is a fine hunting round but does not have the pills to keep up with the 6.5 or 7mms at distance.
