Weird dent in rifle case?

tears of dims from across the country ... I blame them for the dents that or after firing as it fell to the ground and hit a small pebble that was left there by the sea of socialist tears from across the united states . either way i blame the dims you should sue for damages lol

Assuming thats fired straight out of the chamber and not sized?
If its sized then youre probably using too much lube though they are a bit pointy and low on the shoulder for normal lube issues. So Im not thinking this is the issue.

If you fire one and slowly extract it making sure to cushion it with your finger as soon as you can so that it doesnt slam into anything on the way out of the action, is it still present? Aka, did it get created inside the chamber or did it happen on its way out?

Could also be the case hitting a scope ring or the windage turret. The times I have had dents from internal issues they came with some type of scrape and were always the same distance from the shoulder. But yeah, internal slap also needs to be considered.

Without knowing anything about your set up other than it’s a 300 RUM and you’ve only provided information showing two cases having dents in the same area, I have three questions.

Is this dent showing up on every cartridge you fire through it or just these two?

Are you shooting suppressed?

Have you thoroughly cleaned the chamber with a chamber brush and/or solvent since noticing the dent?

I have a R700 308 that I shoot suppressed with a SilencerCo Saker 7.62 100% of the time. Every now and then, a flake of carbon will make its way from the suppressor/muzzle brake down the barrel when the rifle is upright and end up in the chamber causing dents like yours. Most of the time it happens on the shoulder but have had it show up on the body slightly below the shoulder when using new brass. A good cleaning has always solved the issue for me. Might not be your problem but I think is worth looking at.
