Welcome to Costco! I love you.

The more you know !

And that is exactly how I remember hearing the story as well

The "story." :ROFLMAO:

You reminded me of a very similar operation as the original Price Club, but local to the NYC/Long Island area called "JGE Enterprises." Similar types of merchandise offered but more high end stuff (appliances, jewelry, etc). You didn't have to be a "member" to shop there, but you did have to be a Union member or family, or be a govt. worker (LE, Fire, EMS etc.).

Sadly, I could not find one of their TV commercials on YouTube...they were a hoot! But the following is an audio of one. Imagine, if you will, a "rotund" stereotypical union boss like character called "Jerry" wearing a hard hat and a t-shirt that was way too small and didn't reach his pants. At the end of each commercial, the off camera audience would always ask, "So that's the story Jerry?" And he would respond with his hands held high and exposing his belly button underneath his shirt (sort of like showing "plumber's butt" on the front end):

"THAT'S THE STOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRYYYYYY!"

Freakin' Hilarious!

Can you imagine if Costco sold FGMM or Lapua brass? The lot of the Hide would never leave.

The rotisserie chicken is solid for quickly, easily and cheaply getting a couple meals in and making chicken stock. Then you can make soups and all manners of other things.

I'm only feeding one person though, so Costco is hardly ever worth the effort for me.

I do recall Costco (the Brandon, FL store) selling classic Ammo cans for like $20.00 ea. That, and quick access safes.

Meh. Costco is about 35 miles, Sam's Club is 40.

We tried Costco for a year, then Sam gave me a .mil discount, $20 for a membership. We go to either every 2 or 3 months, so Sam wins out. Plus, Sam is cheaper on the stuff we buy the most.

Paper products (tp, paper towels, Kleenex, etc.), and canned staples. Olive oil too.

And their gas is the cheapest around here by far, consistently $0.25/gallon or more cheaper than anywhere else.

We also bought the Executive membership and put everything we can on that card throughout the year for the cash back bonus...always get a nice refund check at the end of the year.

So is is worth it to get a membership and drive 100+ miles once a month for meat? Freakin beef is getting ridiculous.
I think so

We drive 55 miles. We pay more for the executive membership, which gives you cash back. The cash back is substantial if you go there every month. It far outweighs the cost of the membership

I also agree on the produce. It spoils fast. The service at their local tire center has gone downhill. Everytime I have an issue, it takes forever for them to fix it.

Their Lamb & Rice dog food is one of the few that my dog can eat.

Meat and fish are typically good and we buy eggs, Tillamook cheese, bulk nuts, and snacks.

They have the best prices on packs of Kerrygold butter.
Kerrygold is excellent, but has tripled in price over the past couple years. We’ve migrated from that over to the Kirkland brand “grass fed” butter… About 2/3 the price of the Kerrygold, and we actually like it better.

Try it and see if you like it.

If your area has a Costco Business Center it's worth a go. More gear towards restaurants, they have a huge meat selection and it's cheaper then your normal Costco. 40lb boxes of chicken thighs, wings, whole lamb, whole subprimals ect. It's a huge walk in refrigerator. I usually go once every couple of months to make a big meat run. They don't have the clothes, food court, electronics. Just mainly food and gear for a restaurants. Your normal membership will work there and you have to check the hours as they are different then your local Costco.

Also Sunday-Friday from 9am-10am and Saturday 9-9:30am they allow executive members only.

Not nearly as crowded and well worth the extra $$ for that alone IMO.

They sell cigars?
Yep, at the least the stores we go to do.
What brands? Are they stored in a humidor?
Generally Patels and Olivas for us, and yes, in a humidor at the store we go to. The wife smokes also, so we burn through probably more than we should and it gets expensive at times. I think the 10 pack of Patels is $36. For an everyday smoke they're perfectly fine for us. Pickier palettes may not agree however.
