Well.....Bye Jimmy Kimmel

No one has been more outraged than me.

I hate Kimmel with a fire hotter than the depths of hell.

His company is a private company and this firing is well within their rights.

The Government (fcc) threatening them, to make this happen, is an affront to free speech.

There, I said it.

perhaps there are guidelines and rules associated with a broadcast license that is outside of the scope of the 1st?

To get an FCC broadcast license, you must prove the license serves the "public interest, convenience, and necessity" by addressing local community needs in programming, and that you're a trustworthy, financially stable entity capable of operating the station. Requirements vary by the type of broadcast, but a general process includes identifying available broadcast allotments, preparing a detailed application (FCC Form 601) with technical specifications, coordinating frequencies, paying fees, and maintaining a public inspection file to show compliance with service obligations

Look at those definitions. A blind man can seen how general they are and left to interpretation of whoever is enforcing at the moment.

Be very clear here. I am not defending Kimmel or the left. But I am old enough to remember the political censoring of information during the centuries old COVID-19 debacle.

How quick we forget.

But even with a queasy stomach, I will still laugh about this one. I’m just not going to act like a two year-old and pretend I’m not being a hypocrite, like leftist and furry trans fuckers would do.

This one sits odd with me.

I’m for free speech. I’m for freedom of association also, so I’m for shunning people that I’m not compatible with. No govt involvement

I think Pam Bondi going on about hate speech is retarded. This is why the First exists.

The broadcast airwaves are a regulated utility (a monopoly)There are rules so freedom is regulated. This isn’t awesome, but the alternative is competing broadcasts fighting for signal strength, rendering the medium useless.

Edit: this is in regards to the FCC

As far as ABC etc. their company (shitty as it is) their rules. FAFO

it was disney's choice, not the fcc's.
in any case, if you have a broadcast license, you're not supposed to lie to the public (even though we know they do it all the time).

the scumbag is free to sue disney, just like gina did.

His show was already rating very poorly and they needed to ditch it anyway. This is a win-win for them as now the heat is all on the FCC.

This is true and he should never have said that in my opinion. While I am totally on board with the outcome, I feel we must not let ourselves be sucked into arbitrary government punishment of those that disagree with us.

A company has a right to not risk their business and all of them have clauses in their employment contracts discussing their expectations with respect to same. Thus, what you say under their auspices matters and can get you fired.

How quickly we could end up like Britain where any thing said that doesn’t meet the standards of their current government will get you time in the pokey.

I’m well aware that the 1st amendment applies to political speech and does not protect one from the consequences of one’s words/actions. This should just have been left to NexStar to take care of on their own.

Interesting timing:

“The decision (to suspend Kimmel’s show) by Nexstar comes as the broadcast station is seeking FCC approval for its $6.2 billion mega deal to acquire TEGNA, a deal that would make Nexstar by far the largest owner of local TV stations in the country.”

They need FCC approval to raise the market share cap above 40% in order to do this.

Coincidence? I sincerely doubt that.

Good idea Chucky. He'll get lots more gigs by suing ABC for wrongful termination, if that even is a possibility with his contract, which it probably isn't.

Would you hire an employee who was suing his former employer? Most people avoid legal shit as much as possible, and hiring someone who will sue even when they're in the wrong is retarded.

The FCC didn't take him off the air or fine them, the network itself is giving him a time out to save some face. The FCC goes after broadcasters all the time, awhile ago they had a huge bunch of fines because of nudity or something, other times it's swear words or advertising during certain hours whatever.

TBH I think the FCC should flex its muscles more often. Too much stupid ugly shit on the air these days.

Technically, if his show was surviving on USAID money, his speech was protected…

I’ll go hide now.

Actually, I had exactly the same thought.

Though it was only protected until the network decided that they had a perfectly good excuse to nix a show that was no longer being paid for by tax dollars.

Funny how all these late night losing shows are disappearing when the gravy train from the taxpayer stops.

Hitting USAID with the first bomb dropped was absolutely brilliant.

OK, I think this has been said before in this thread. The 1st Amendment protects you, the citizen, from Government harassment. That is as far as it goes. If you say something your EMPLOYER finds offensive, then they can take any action allowed in your employment contract up to and including termination. The government isn't involved, it's between you and your employer. If you are employed as an 'At Will' employee, one of your objectives should be to NOT piss off your employer. ABC produces the show that affiliates purchase and air under their broadcast license. ABC depends on these affiliates to purchase the show to make money. One of ABC's largest affiliates decided to quit airing the Kibble (intentional) show until he apologized and made restitution to the Kirk family.

If you can't sell the show, then quit producing it. I don't think this is so hard to understand. ABC made a business decision, a good one in my humble opinion, to quit spending money on something they could not demonstrate a reasonable ROI.

Do I feel bad for Kibble Boy? Not in the least. He should have known his audience better.

They blame everyone but Kimmel and who ever wrote the bit.

All he would need to do is suck it up, realize he told a lie, acknowledge that. But that would require some tegritry.

Instead they are going off on TDS, Disney, ABC, the FCC etc... Zero accountability or personal responsibility.

Of course they won’t apologize, they’re on a holy quest to stomp out nazis. That and OrangeManBad.

Sure seems like someone in the Trump administration is reading Snipers Hide.

And I don’t just mean the ATF and FBI types who are looking to pad their studies on right wing extremist while coiffing their man buns and making up Russia shit. We know who you are! I love reverse tracing apps! ;-).

Anyhoo…. I say this Because the discussions of creating a terrorist label for antifa, and suspending broadcast licenses for failure to uphold the public interest, and a bunch of other stuff suddenly seem to be on the priority list for the administration.

And you read about all of it here first!

Sirhr

PS. We aren’t really tracing the Manbun types who are spying on us. Or maybe we are? And feeding it back to the new MFWIC’s running their bureaus and agencies. Nah… we would never do that. Or would we! How are those extremist studies going, BTW?! And how many of you have fed data to Antifa? Or to illegals? That is traceable. Meh… I’m just spitballing here. Maybe. Ba hahahaha. Hahhaha. Haha. Or not.

And the funny thing is that kibble boy was one of the ones who attacked Jay Leno when he suggested that it would be better for everybody to keep politics out of late night.

Jay Leno and Johnny Carson, back in the day, went after everyone. They did it with Great wit and hilarity, but none of it was intended to be propaganda or an endless attack on an individual administration.

Those guys were funny, cheeky, and completely neutral in that they would have a great time making fun of absolutely everyone. Today the comedians are complete leftists designed simply to trash Republicans. Or anyone who is promoting the American Republic.

Kibble and his ilk have turned late-night into garbage. And when they were called out on it, they attacked one of the grand old men of late night. Who was just giving them some good advice about how to run their shows.

ABC made the right call. Moreover, the FCC made the right call in threatening the broadcast license because they were no longer serving the public interest.

Cheers.

Kimmel isn’t funny anymore. He’s been telling the same shitty jokes for the last five years if not ten. The only people who watch him are Reddit NPCs and geezer democrats.
