Congrats ! I retired in 2022, went back to work end of 2024, after remodeling my house top to bottom myself, not a sit around and watch tv guy. Best wishes to you and yours , have fun !

Been retired 17 years come July and it's hard to believe how quickly the time has gone. I cannot recommend not going to work every day highly enough. Congratulations on attaining a milestone many do not achieve.

I will miss some of the work, I very much enjoyed the big industrial stuff. I did far more mechanical work than the mundane piping. Trouble shooting, repairing then returning to service was satisfying.
Won’t miss having to dress like this to do it though…

No worries about going stagnant here, I have too many irons in the fire.

I would like to retire in the next few years but I had to pull some money out of my simple IRA to pay for some house repairs to stay worthy of paying my inflated homeowner's insurance premiums.

Hahaha. Get a life, seriously. Retirement isn't like dying. I wake up every day and do whatever the hell I want to do. If I want to go camping for a few days, Tues thru Thurs means fewer wankers in the forest. Go shooting every nice day. Swing by my buddies liquor business on bottling day and help pack cases. Fly down to visit my buds in Alabama, no problem.

I haven't checked the schedule to see if we have coverage once in 15 months. My firewood pile is huge, we now have a new fence.

My wife has a friend who's husband is one of those friendless people with no hobbies. He's 67 and plans on working 10 more years. That sounds worse than prison to me.

You do you as they say. I'll be enjoying today shooting with my buddies getting ready for tomorrow's pistol match.
