Yup, another trend going around that is a parent's potential nightmare! Basically you call a number that's one digit off from your own and attempt to make friends with that person. Geee, what could possibly go wrong with that?!

This is the product of young kids today being raised in WAY too sheltered and comfortable living conditions. That is why they have absolutely no fucking clue about the realities of adulthood and the challenges of everyday living until it hits them in the face like a blown up credit card bill that they cannot afford, or getting mugged, beaten, and much, much worse by that "poor homeless" dude that they desperately wanted to "help". And this is the same generation of young'uns that fucking think socialism is the greatest idea that ever existed... Absolute detachment from reality.

By the way, I was wondering why I had received several calls recently from numbers that were very similar to my own. Just like my policy to answering the door, I simply do not acknowledge random numbers that I got no fucking clue about. If I am not expecting a call at this time or from a number I got no idea about, they can pound sand. If it's really important, use the damn voicemail or text...

It's just my wife and myself......we're empty nesters. We were both in the truck on a Saturday, going grocery shopping. I have a home office landline and a cell phone. Anyway, I'm driving down the freeway and my cellphone rings. It's my home office landline number calling me.

Needless to say, I didn't answer it. Oddly enough, "I" didn't leave me voicemail. Still trying to figure that one out. Essentially, I don't answer any of my phones unless I recognize the number calling me.

Spoofing. Caller ID only knows what's it's told, they can tell it to display whatever numbers they want.

My Mom's phone number called me about a month after she passed, I had a wtf moment there. It was an insurance company slinging Obama Care.

I get calls all the time from numbers that aren't one off of mine, but similar. Its always just blank space, no one there. Unfortunately I have to answer because its a business line. I always wonder what has been hacked from my phone by me answering etc. I do block the numbers when I get those calls but who knows what good that does.

Just recently got one of these, read : "Hey next door number neighbor, you have my number but with one number higher."

Just ignored it. Buddy got a laugh out of it and chalked it up to dumb millenial shit.

it's always that damn "elizbeth with credit card member services". that bitch has 87897474379 different phone numbers. has anyone had their OWN phone number call them yet like me? I hate telemarketers..

In a previous job I spoofed cellular caller IDs to mimic the called party in order to access their voicemail boxes.

i got a text this morning from my "number neighbor"

I had no idea wtf that was until this thread.

Miss me with that ghey shit

    Hi,

Shit..curiosity got the best of me (That is not always a good sign lol)...

    @Dombern34
I wonder what took so long to sell that damn boat trailer and that is crazy that your 7.3L Ford gave you cold start problems even though Leesburg does not really get cold.
Did the rod business ever sell or you decided to keep it?

    Sincerely,
    Theis

lol, well the trailer moved after about a month. it's a tight market.
the 7.3 when I had it 10 years ago did have few cold mornings (below 30) that gave me issues if I didn't plug it up.
and I kept the business. still going strong.

    tell me about yourself sir.

LOL! Good luck with that! He's a fucking ghost.

Lol IF I was awake at 4am that’s the last shit I’m watching. Promise you that.

I’ve had a cellphone since the 7th grade and I’m 30 now. Of course technology wasn’t what it is now
