In a van, down by the river.
Last night was my last night as a police officer. 10 years absolutely flew by. I've learned a lot about people and myself in the process. On to bigger and better things as I will be using only my paramedic and pew pew skills in my next line of work. :)

As a parting gift they all chipped in and got me this:

Thanks guys. It's surreal. Cleaning out my locker and patrol gear bag felt like I was detached from myself.

Now I get to do nothing but make ammo, shoot, and workout for the next 6 weeks before I drive from southern Cali to North Carolina for the job.

Looking forward to meeting with @ArmyJerry and maybe a few others on the way.

    Great risks = great rewards

Good move. Congrats on making it this far. Your service, especially under your particular circumstances, is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you're a US Combat Veteran, but many of our VFW members are former and current LE; and are, in general, all very well received and liked. I suspect the same is as true in SC as it is here in SE AZ.

    Give it a look-see.

Here in SE AZ, we also have a number memebr who are active CBP agents as well as former Military, and/or/also former LE.

Be ready for some CULTURE SHOCK.
I've already spent weeks in NC for Paramedic school. Fell in love with everything and everyone there. They were like "You sure you're from California? You sound like you belong deep in the woods around here doing a cookout and telling the gub'mint to GTFO"

    :)

LOL it would seem that California would be more of a culture shock to you.

Congratulations and best of wishes for your new career!

    Nice move!

You takin the lady with ya? Or is that a sore subject?

I'm only gonna be in NC for 2 months for training. Then I'm off to overseas. I'll be in the US about 3 months a year after that. So, my lady is gonna be right back here waiting and I'll be drooling every time I see her :)

Where are you going in NC? I am in East Tennessee and if you need a place to spend a night. I have a guest house you are welcome to. Shoot me a a PM. I will warn you that the cicadas are getting a little bit loud.

First award was while active duty, 2nd award with combat "V" was whilst a cop. ??. Barely made it out with my pension intact.

Thanks for your service. Enjoy life living back in the Usa. I don't envy your drive, but would love to criss cross this whole patch of land sea to sea. Feel more connected to our nation when you move across it, and I only jumped a few states. Don't be surprised if it takes another 10 years just to fully unpack! :D
