Rifle Scopes What’s the latest on Steiner P4XI 4-16?

Yeah, i just saw that on EO. I wonder how the two compare? The Steiner is a 34 mm tube over the NF 30 mm and the Steiner objective is 56 mm compared to 50 mm for the shv.

I think the SHV is lighter and more compact, where the P4X offers more vertical travel in just one turn but is heavier, tradeoffs. As the Dark Lord of optics has pointed out neither are as nice as the ATACR or the MK5. But I have blown all my money on SnB's for my bigger guns and can't afford any more Uber glass.

Just fingering the P4x today and I’m impressed. Glass is excellent, and the turrets are good to go, tactile and the elevation does take a firm grip but nothing crazy. This could easily be the best sub 1$k on the market, and blows the gen 2 viper PST out of the water imo.

Some of it is cultural too. Chicoms have a shit culture...thank God. It's a society based on stealing and emulating others. Which works great when you are trying to catch up technology wise but they are incappable of innovation. We should be thanking God that even with stealing every piece of advanced Western tech, they still can't build things like a jet engine or other advanced military tech at a competent level.

Anything worth a shit coming out of China is most likely Western tech with Western management on the ground. As been seen millions of times... Take away the white boot out of their ass, and they revert back to their ways. Let's pray they never learn to think for themselves.
Then tell them marshmallows to stop sending shit to be made in China.

Bushnell killed it's reputation with me a long time ago... Hearing it's name alone hurts my eyes already. To many low end scopes so will be hard to win me back. I don't care how top notch they are now a days I just won't buy one. I'm bias.

Well, you can join a very long list of trolls who choose to ignore sound data and experience then. ;) Bushnell's been putting out quality optics for several years now, whether you choose to believe it or not.

Lmao....A Bushnell on a rifle is like Pro Wings on an athlete...

Whole lotta stupid going on in this thread on page 2. Whatever you may think of Greeley Steiner, the performance of the Bushy Elite Tac. scopes has been validated many times over and is utterly beyond reproach. The product coming out of Greeley Co. ... Well, some hit... Some do not...

Bushy has had its fair share of issues, just like Vortex, Leupold etc. Nothing in this industry is immune to failures, but the new P4Xi after the bugs were worked out, seems to be good to go. YMMV

Got a chance to finally mount my scope and put some rounds down range this past weekend, glass is on par (even a bit better) then my Bushnell ERS. I shot early morning up until lunch time, cloudy with bursts of bright sunshine at times. Clear pic through scope, mirage wasn’t bad at all, no complaints really. I was shooting some hotter 308 I had left over from load development out of a bolt gun (no brake), scope held zero no prob. I didn’t have any data to dial in shots but I turned the elevation knobs a couple mils up, fired a few shots, then dialed back down to my zero in number and the scope was on point. I spent some time working the turret back and forth and it seems to be loosening up as it breaks in. The turret was stiff when I got the scope but could be turned one handed. All in all I like the scope so far, its a great deal at the current price point.

I’m in the same boat, been back and forth on the Steiner or Athlon Midas TAC 6-24.

I've got them both. Comparable optical quality but I like looking through the Steiner better. Turrets on both track and return to zero accurately. The Midas give you additional zoom. The Steiner will give you illuminated reticle, 34mm main tube vs 30mm and 56mm objective lens. It's a nice fit on lighter and smaller rifles. The Steiner handles low light situations better.

What model do you refer to as the cheaper bushnell? For something not in the elite tactical line I wont argue that but to say it can blow the LRTSi (lowest eltie tac) out of the water are some mighty strong comments.

I’m talking about the Gen 1 elite Bushy line. The Steiner glass and Turrets are better imo. I like the 34 mm tube for increased elevation range and the 56 mm objective compared to the 44 mm on the elite. The newer gen 2 HDMR stuff is impressive though.

Hard for me to complain about the P4...all the features a dude would need in a optic at a helluva price point. I've ran mine in two single day matches just to see how it performed, no issues. I'm typically an optic snob, but Burris did a good job on these.
