Just picked up my lone peak fusion action and have a 6.5mm bartlein barrel i want to turn into a 6.5cm and need a good gunsmith to chamber my barrel. Originally I was gunna do a prefit but more and more Im thinking im going to send in my action and have them custom cut it for my action to eek out as much precision as I can. I know bugholes is a great place especially for prefits but idk about custom chamberings? I know sac does custom jobs. Does anyone have experience with their barrel work? Anyone else you can think of that you know does great work throw me a comment and let me know.
Thanks

Prefit?
Ern at Altus does great work.

Fritz at Black Canyon Customs does great work too. Not sure if he is doing prefits or not? Not a big deal to send the action if you are shipping a blank.

I have several prefits from several places.
All shoot very well. Some better than an old hack like me deserves.
I would not be scared of a prefit 🤷‍♂️

I've had really good experiences with Triggered Precision Machine in Idaho.

Here's a video of a barrel TPM did for me. It's perfect.

You are gaining nothing by not doing a prefit. Unless you are a world class shooter who will spin up 5 barrels and toss the 4 worst shooters in the trash then thats not you. You wont be able to see or shoot the difference. Its a waste of time and money.

There are a bunch of good smiths out there. For the money the CRB Prefits are a good deal made by and chambered by World Champions. You could also use Stuetsville Precision Impact prefits that Impact sells, they are probably the cheapest/highest quality out there. Impact and lone peak are interchangeable.

Then there are a few dozen really well known and respectable smiths who can do the work. Find the Blank first then the smith. Your biggest challenge is going to be wait time. If you want really good work done fast, I can give the name of a few really good guys. Not going to be the cheapest but they can get it done fast and are respected members of the community.

I would stick to Bartlien, CRB, Krieger or Geissele for cut rifle blanks.

If you are near Seattle Buffalo Creek precision does very good work. If near Yakima/tricites then Angelos Ward is a well known smith. Alot of the west coast guys run Garret Preeces barrels. He does really good work but is in UT.

I have a mtu contour 6.5mm bartlein blank i just need to send it in somewhere. I didn't know that Impact and lone peak barrels are interchangeable. Very good to know.
