I thought you were an adult at 18 but now idk where it starts.

First my confusion:
-18 vote
-18 enter contract
-18 perform in porn
-18 to die in a war
-18 21 to buy smokes
- 21 to buy pistol ammo
-25 to rent a car
-26 kicked off mommy’s health insurance

Can we get on the same fucking page already?’

Age to vote and for selective service registration should equal the age to buy guns, alcohol, and tobacco.

Let the out of touch millionaire "representatives" in DC decide that one...

Just to throw a twist into this line of thinking, isn't there some sort of legislation that specifies 'old enough to choose to have sex' or something like that?

What about the 'minimum age' to become "emancipated" from the parents?

My point being, IIRC those numbers are excessively "low" and at the same time expect to have "adult level" consideration and such.

The numerical value as dictated by .gov has no bearing on my thoughts. Here is what I have noticed...I see a shit ton of "kids" still living with their parents well into their 20s and 30s. Lot's of teenagers that don't have at least summer jobs when school is out, even if their parents worked during the summers when they were kids. Family is important, but the concept of going out and making your own way in life has become lost. How the hell can you ever become an "adult" when you can never truly be self reliant?

In the real world probably 15 or so depending on breeding and upbringing

Per the government, got to ask your local party official

Yeah, I get it....its sort of like the objection to showing ID to vote when there are so many far less important things you need to show ID for...like opening a bank account.

Nonetheless.....not all.... but many of these type of mass shootings are done by immature, loner, resentful, fucking male teenagers who actually think their raging hormone fueled emotions and anger mean something.

Yeah, I get it but so many of these punks don't have the maturity to have a fucking rubber band gun much less an AR.

Just my view.

I will say that I do hope that this little shithead in TX wasn't DRT from a single shot...I hope he lingered, he was as terrified as the little kids he shot, and that it really fucking hurt on his way out of this mortal plane.

Cheers

Thru history we have gained years in life expectancy. Makes sense, people live longer but take more time to reach a certain maturity level. Of course that is effected by living conditions and personal life choices.
Here is a chart from a history web site.

That number of 26 is where the left gets their Inflated numbers for children that die from firearms.
You only have to be 17 to die in war if your parents signed off on your enlistment.

11 when I started screwing around with the girls my older sister hung out with.

Pretty sure it’s a scientific fact that the human brain is not fully matured until age 26. But that puts a damper on a lot of things they need young bodies for. Just imagine how bad off the Dems might be if you had to be 26 before you could vote. Lmao

On average, a human’s frontal lobe (which is involved in complex problem solving/decision making) is not developed until around 25.

Wanna be an adult? Accept the responsibility of being one.

I think there should be no set age. I think that you should be an adult when you voluntarily go to the county courthouse and sign a paper and swear an oath to undertake and uphold the rights and responsibilities of adulthood.

Go to war, register for the draft, be charged as an adult, pay your own Healthcare, pay your own taxes, not be on your parents insurance, etc. All the rights and responsibilities of adulthood whenever you want to start acting like an adult.

If I had been "allowed" to, I would have signed it at 16, joined the military, and gone to Afghanistan.

I’m just going to add that no one is truly an adult until they have accepted that they are in no way sufficiently mature for their responsibilities. Being perfectly self assure is a sign of gross immaturity…

The age of maturity has been moved to the right with each generation. My grandfather was an adult at 12 years old. My brother-in-law is still a child at 27 years old.

Go back to 1940 and set the age of an adult at 14 and add 2 years for each decade and that's probably where we're at. So an adult in the 2020s is 30 years old due to societal deflation.

When you're willing and able to support yourself and anyone you bring into this world.

If I had to guess, 32 (on average) and climbing nowadays. Never for a large chunk of our population.

Everyone else is just a child in an adult body.

A boy is only a man when he stops making engine noises... I'll let ya know when my grandfather stops.

My daughter was an adult around 14 or 15.

A decade later, I know people her age that I would not consider adults.

Age is no indicator of responsibility/maturity.

Biology hasn't changed in the last 100 or even 1000 years. Mortality rates and average life spans skew our perception of the past. "OMG, the average life expectancy in the US in 1870 was 40!? That means you were an adult by 10!!!?!" No, just no. Infant mortality and overall more dangerous living/working conditions artificially lowers the average. (Not to mention the lingering effects of a civil war.) A person who survived childhood could be reasonably expected to live to a ripe old age, assuming s/he didn't die in a house fire or some farm/industrial/workplace accident. (Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson both lived into their 80s, at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century.) I will guarantee you that no one in, or beyond, their 20s in 1870 looked upon ANY 12 year old and said, "There goes a grown-ass man." Even if the 12yo was saddled with adult responsibilities.

Nope, you're not an adult until you can make complex decisions AND fully grasp the consequences of those decisions. Biology says that doesn't really occur until ~25.

When you do this.

I wish I could agree that 18 is a reasonable age to reach "maturity". Sadly MOST youth that I have seen has proven that they are not capable of acting mature or making mature (which is to say) thought out decisions.

My best friend has 2 kids, one boy and one girl. The boy tends to be a sit in his room and play video games type. Graduated 4 years a little while ago and seems to have no serious ambition to use it. Daughter is a little younger and still in college. I see her when she's home from time to time and overhear phone convos. She's almost 21 and acts like a fuckin 12 year old. I feel this is what most of our youth have become. Coddled, spoiled, without ambition, and immature.

I see the argument for being old enough to drive, join the military, etc. I'm definitely NOT for additional bullshit laws and restrictions, but I feel I'd be lying to say the vast majority of what I see out there is "adult" material.

The only age restriction we should be supporting is 18 y/o for internet access. Instead, today's kids are fucking zombies.
