Rifle Scopes what are you most excited to see at SHOT?

I’m excited to hear about the new optics coming out. Im sure there will be some exciting new electronics built in that I can’t afford but can drool over.
Wishful thinking but a Tikka CTR in 224 Valkyrie would be awesome. I know most think it’s better suited for ar platforms and might be but I prefer bolt guns.

To be honest, I am most excited to see a bunch of people I am friendly with that I only see once a year at SHOT.

Whether TT will have a T3 reticle. I first heard a rumor they would have a "horus" ... then heard a rumor they would not.

Interested in seeing if there is a new winner in pure range finding. Want Terrapin X or better capability for $1500. Emphasis on small critters at long range.

I'm excited to finally see my ass is going. For years I kept forgetting until it was too late. Now I got all 4 days off and intend to see everything I have on my list.
A Vortex AMG 4-20x50 Ultra Short and Ultra Light. A Tangent Theta 4-20x50 Ultra Short and Ultra Light. A Nightforce ATACR F1 4-20x50 Ultra Short and Ultra Light... hmmm, starting to see a theme here, anyone who can deliver a scope with a greater than 18x but less than 25x top end magnification with decent low end FOV and a 50mm objective with good glass, good depth, good control of CA in a body shorter than 14" and less than 30oz - and having a great .2 mil hash reticle would be nice as well. I've been asking for this for years, the 4-16's and 3-15's are "old news" now and shooters want a little more, something that fills the gap between 3-15 and 5-25 which is why I've always had my eye on 4-20. The Schmidt Ultra shorts are great, but would love to see a better reticle and get rid of the illumination tumor.
Last year Leupold had the Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 which had all the right specs but the 35mm tube, 44 objective and only 18x at the top, mine had glass that left me wanting more at the top end. ZCO came out with the ZC420 which fit everything except weight, a little too heavy for an US IMO and of course no one has actually seen one since SHOT 2018. Kahles had the K318i which should have been a K420i and I'd never want anything more, it is my favorite ultra short out right now with glass that bested the Schmidt US 3-20, but it too is a wee bit on the heavy side. Tract came out with the Toric 4-20x50, another that promised to be something special but for a 30mm scope is quite heavy.
While I doubt it will happen in 2019, I'd love to see the Vortex AMG group pull something out of their hat...
That leaves the most anticipated scope for SHOT 2019 as the Burris XTR III 3.3-18x50. Again, I wish they opted for a 3.7-20x50 instead but you've got to take what you can get and this scope check's off the other boxes, so that's what I'm most excited to see. Sadly I won't be at SHOT this year but I do plan a trip to Burris in Colorado sometime in the spring.

Having already seen the XTR III, I think Burris will have a very busy booth this year.
I agree with a lot of what you said, except 18x is perfectly sufficient for me. I really like the idea of 4x or lower unobstructed low end magnification. Burris XTR3 has absolutely identical apparent FOV at all magnificaitons which is impressive and given that I shoot a fair bit offhand or out of other iffy shooting positions, I like keeping 3.3x on the low end.

Anyone remember this at SHOT show in 2018, sure would be nice to see some more of it in 2019
Would also like to hear what people think of the Gen3 XR reticle looking through the scope (on Tangent Theta's). Curious if Steiner will have the M7Xi 4-28x56 there to look at as well, cheaper than the M5Xi but greater magnification and lower weight, could the IQ be on par with the M5 or possible better for a lower price?

Would love to see a mid tier LRF Binocular, something with better glass than the Vortex Fury HD and Nikon Laserforce, but with better LRF capabilities but not the $3k + cost of the Leica, Swaro and Zeiss. Perfect timing for a Vortex AMG LRF that can do 2000+ yards with accuracy, but I'd entertain other companies as well. If Sig's 3000BDX ever makes it to shelves, I'm really curious to see how good their glass is, if it's another along the lines of the Fury/Laserforce or possible a step up?
I want to see a relatively short, fixed 12.5x 44mm with low profile mil turrets, 10 mils per rev, .1mil clicks, zero stop, locking turrets, a reticle similar to Vortex's EBR-1 or EBR-7, 25+ mils of internal elevation, 30 or 34mm tube, under 30 oz., and glass on par with the top tier stuff. I'd buy 2.

I want a date and pricing on the Aimpoint ACRO so I can order one to run at the 12 o’clock on my scope rings.
...and just the usual, I want to see ultra shorts with grid reticles that are sub 30oz and 1-10 scopes. But I’m pretty confident I’ll still be waiting a few years before I see either of those.

Ain't gonna happen from anybody but why I don't know. A truly good crossover scope for long range hunting and tactical shooting, whood a thunk it.
Still waiting for a 1" tubed, FFP, 2-12x36, capped but finger adjustable 5 mil turrets with ZS, .2 mil reticle about .6 mil thick, compact, sub 1 pound, and with higher end glass.
Is it me or do a lot of people want to see a lot of things that they still won't buy? ..........
I've been tryng to convince someone to make it for half a decade now.
If it doesn't happen in a couple more years, I'll do it myself.

I really want to see a few quality OEM 224V Bolt rifle options. Mainly to help the manufacturers figure out reamers, cartidge precision and details that seem to be eluding the vast majority of builders/manufacturers after the last year.
It needs a platform with fewer variables to prove itself out and iron out kinks.

Seems like Sig has had the upper hand with reliable LRF past about 500-700yds, sure would be nice if the LRF in the Athlon Cronus 10x50 was something special, but if it's essentially the same unit as the Vortex Fury and Nikon Laserforce then I'll be left wanting. It's a little on the heavy side but the 50mm should be nice when the light gets low, since it's in the Cronus series the glass could be quite impressive. Spec's say reflective range is 2000y and Deer is 800y, that sounds very similar to Fury/Laserforce, and while the "spec's" are more than sufficient for most, what I've found in the field is that those numbers are not nearly as good as they sound.
Update: Had to go back to my review and pull up the specs, here's how they compare with regard to reflective range:
- Vortex Fury HD = 1600yds
- Nikon Laserforce = 1900yds
- Athlon Cronus 10x50 LRF = 2000yds
- Sig Kilo 2000 = 3400yds
- Sig Kilo 3000BDX = ?

From what I hear, there is an issue with heavy bullet accuracy with 224V. I do not think we will see too much new stuff until that is resolved. Also, I am not sure if that effects bolt guns the same way as it does semi-autos.

Yes, this finally a Long Eye Relief MRAD Eye piece. I am a little surprised it's 22x but I guess it's the biggest FOV?
It’s a pretty complicated product, between Binos, LRF, and kestrel/Bluetooth/AB stuff. When I talked to them a year ago they guessed that it would be announced in Q3 2018, so in sport-optics-years it’s early....
I’m antsy for it, too. @Lowlight did you get to play with the binos as part of your BDX demo?
Would love to see S&B do a 3-12x42 PMII for hunting purposes, keeping it around 20-21 ounces.
That’s definitely true in the sport optics industry but Sig has been quicker with other products, the 3000 was announced with other BDX products which I believe have already made it to market which prompted my question. Either way, between the Sig, Athlon, Vortex and Leupold LRF Binos looks like we’ll have some great options this year.

I had a chance to look through it at SCI Reno this last weekend. I still like the Leica best of the range finding binos, followed by Swaro. The Leupold were not that comfortable on my eyes. Not a bad bino, just didn't work so well for me.
I want to here some opinions on the Steiner m7xi. I talked to the Steiner rep at SCI Reno and he said that they will have the scope at Shot Show.
Yes, it's the Leupold RBX-3000 and has very similar specs to the new Vortex Fury 5000 HD and Sig Kilo 3000BDX.

Yes, they told it will be there. I am thinkming of doing the next installment in the High End Tactical article series I have and M7Xi would be in there.
