I have a 6.5 AR-10 and I am wondering what most of you are shooting.

I found that my rifle likes the 130 Norma Ammo but the price has gone up. I guess it has to do with the Prime lawsuit. I am looking to see what the rest of you shoot for additional options.

I have shot the 140gr Hornady American Gunners and they seem to work well for the price. I have shot some other Hornandy ammo and it seems slow. The 130gr FGMB seemed to be alright but cost was an issue. I guess I didn’t know if it was just me that found running the 140 AG ammo was ok.

The 140 AG shoots pretty consistently .8 through my GAP-10, and about the same through my AI bolt gun.
The Hornady 140 ELD-M shoots very consistently .5-.6 in my GAP, and .5 in my A.I. I have shot several groups of .3 moa through the A.I. with it.
I can’t say it’s slow at all through my GAP. It runs 2717 in my GAP with a 22” Bartlein barrel. That’s according to my Magnetospeed, and matching data out to 1200 yds.
The 140 AG is plenty good for casual practice, but for match work, I’m ELD-M for sure.

I only shoot the 140 Hornady ELD-M through my JP so I cant speak to any others. I see an average group of .6 with mine. I have found it as low as 27.95 a box shipped with 0 shipping on a case or more. I don't know what your looking for price wise?

Not a 6.5, but I built a 260 with a 24” bull barrel which does very well with 140gr Nosler Custom Competiton HPBT projectiles behind 42.4 or 42.6 grains of H4350. I was able to take it out past 900 yards at Pala a couple of months ago.

I really like the 140’s, and also use them for my 6.5 Swedes.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate your help. My original question was more for factory ammo. I do have a question about reloading for an semi-auto.

My brass is coming out with a dent in the shoulder. Is it still ok to reload that? Is anyone shooting their brass again with the dent? Thanks in advance.

Normal, at least in my experience - semi’s are hard on brass. I use Lapua brass, and all have the extraction dent once fired. I’ve ran a couple hundred a couple times through, and am on my third reload for the current batch. So far no problems in my Spikes AR-10.

I've shot a couple of .2's with Hornady factory 147's through my SP-10. Generally runs about .6 though. The 140's do about .7 consistently with a few .3's in there so, the 147's are better on average. Reminds me, I've got to start load development with that gun. Too many rifles and so little time.

In my build with a Criterian 18" barrell, I am getting MOA and slightly sub MOA with American Eagle 120 grain OTM bullets. I buy in bulk and it is sufficent for 600 yards. I handload 130 grain TMK or Game Changers over IMR 4451 powder for distances beyond. 140 grain Hornady american gunner is also a choice for high volume shooting.

My JP's shoot well with: Hornady 140 ELD-M, Hornady 147 ELD-M, Prime 130 (RIP), Norma 130 ($$$$$). Of those the Hornady 140 ELD-M is a magical load that lot to lot, box to box has always performed the exact same and produced some amazing groups.

If you are looking for factory ammo, Hornady 140 ELD-M is VERY tough to beat.

I shoot 139 Scenars out of all of my 6.5 guns, bolt and gas. They are just very easy to load for. In my JP chambered in .260, I was using Winchester .243 brass and 41.7 of H4350. I just purchased some Peterson .260 brass, so this may change some.
