What barrel length for .338 LM?

I've searched the threads here and there are various preferences. If you were building a gun for punching paper and steel primarily, would you go 26", 28" or another barrel length for the .338 Lapua?

27” or a 300 Norma.

My 338 was a 20” but I had a different need.

26-28 inches gets my vote. Gotta have a long tube so all that slow powder does its job.

Personally I would go with 28". No point in going Lapua if you aren't going to maximize performance in my opinion. Or better yet, go with an improved chamber and a 30" barrel.

Just rebarreled sako 42 ,lieja 30” 1-8 5r , loading Gs custom banded ..267gr
Ave 3007fps . Broke in with .300 Prime, way to much twist for that heavy short stuff! Recoil ouch.
Solids nice to shoot now . .290 @ 500 yd

Depends on the primary distances you will be shooting it. If past 1k yds i would go 30". I built 2 both 30" and am very happy.
