Well, Im tryin to deside which brand of drag bag I should buy. I like the Blackhawk model and the Eagle Industries, but I have heard that some of the Eagle products are not American made. I want it for a 17 pound long range weapon. Its the second rifle I have built and the first long range tactical type rifle I have built so Im tryin to pick out the best of everything for it. Any suggestions?
Thanks very much

Re: What Drag Bag?

+1 for TacOps...Think there are a few of the short Coyote colored bags left in the group buy section.

Re: What Drag Bag?

I'm selling a dang near brand new Tac Ops Stryker drag-bag in Coyote tan...$165 shipped. Only taken it to the range twice...still have the tags. I can post pics later if you're interested.

Re: What Drag Bag?

Check the PX - Group Buy section, there are several Tac Ops Drag Bag group-buys going on right now. I got a short coyote bag last year and couldn't be happier; highly recommend! I know there are a few short CB bags left.

Unfortunately, the Tac Ops web site is weak and lacks a lot of information. Most of Tac Ops business is agency-related (which is another reason Tac Ops doesn't take credit cards) and the requesting and contracting agencies just send over P.O.s' / requisitions on agency letterhead. Agencies know what they want and need, so information about many of the products and services Tac Ops offers such as suppressors, training, ect is missing from the Tac Ops site. Certain items and projects are also Classified.

Still, more information is in order. I've mentioned this to Mike over the years, but he is totally focused on product development, delivery of weapons, and ensuring quality control. That said, Tac Ops Drag Bags are made in the U.S. (Los Angeles to be exact), carry a lifetime warranty, are extremely well-made, and have the most extensive and useful feature set I have seen in a conventional drag bag. Too bad I can't own my own suppressors so I could actually make use of the padded suppressor pocket.

The TO DBs' have more than enough storage pockets and are built sturdily enough that you can carry a full-size spotting scope, tripod, lens cleaning kit, range finder, binoculars, data book, Kestrel, spare bipod, cleaning rod and cleaning supplies, and several hundred rounds of ammo and still have additional capacity. One of the great things about the Tac Ops DBs' is that you can pack everything you need in the bag so you don't forget anything.

Tac Ops Drag Bags' come in two sizes: "<span style="font-weight: bold">SHORT</span>" and "<span style="font-weight: bold">LONG/Regular</span>". <span style="font-weight: bold">SHORT Drag Bags will accomodate tactical rifles with OALs' of up to 43.5" mounted with a large scope. "LONG/Regular" Drag Bags will accomodate tactical rifles with OALs' of up to 51.0" mounted with a large scope. All Tac Ops products are 100% manufactured in the Los Angeles, California area.</span>

There are a few SHORT Coyote Drag Bags available at "Group Buy" pricing of $275.00 SHIPPED in CONUS in the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">TAC OPS GEN 5 PLUS COYOTE DRAG BAG GROUP BUY</span></span>. That is a substantial savings over the "normal" shipped price of $305.00 (in CONUS) for Coyote. Pricing includes FedEx Ground shipping. No Air Shipments will be made, and no shipping outside of the U.S. Prices will be going up this year (2012).

Now, I may have missed something (I don't think I did), but below are the main features of the Tac Ops Gen 5 Plus Drag Bag:

<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">- Heavy Duty 1000 Denier Cordura Construction

Re: What Drag Bag?

Also, just in case you don't know what color <span style="font-style: italic">"Coyote"</span> is, below is a photo of the embroidered <span style="font-style: italic">"Tactical Operations"</span> lettering on the large muzzle end pocket on the exterior of the Bag. I don't know when there will be another Tac Ops Drag Bag Group Buy, so if you want a SHORT Coyote DB I suggest that you order one of the remaining DBs'.

To order a <span style="font-weight: bold">Tac Ops SHORT Coyote Drag Bag</span>, claim the next available number DB off of <span style="font-style: italic">THIS LIST</span>, post you'll take that Drag Bag in the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Tac Ops Coyote Drag Bag Group Buy</span></span> thread, and follow the Ordering Instructions. TIA!

Re: What Drag Bag?

I use a Blackhawk drag bag/shooting mat and absolutely love it, infinite abilities to camo it with ghillie, natural camo, or paint. durable and sturdy. holds everything i need and protects the muzzle and buttstock while maintaining the ability to strap down the rifle near the trigger assembly.

I have ZERO issues with it. it all depends on the OAL of your rifle though. What are you looking for in it? do you want to be able to shoot off of it? are you shooting a bolt gun or a gasser? pistol grip? tall optics? do you need extra pouches or just one for some single rounds and a data book?

just another option and my $0.02

Re: What Drag Bag?

Just order the Tac Ops and be done with it. I just received the multi-cam model shown above and in my humble opinion you can pay more, but you won't find better. These bags are very well thought out & built tough for folks that will use them a hell of alot harder than I ever will. Yes, they are a bit of coin, but I'd venture a guess that this will be last bag for my rifle that I need to buy.

Just buy one, and as someone above said, "you can thank me later".

Re: What Drag Bag?

Damn that tacops bag is very nice. However, I defintely couldn't spring that much on a bag. I'll have to look at other alternatives unfortunately

Re: What Drag Bag?

Tac-Ops!

I have one Coyote bag and one OD bag and they are top notch gear and people! I just regret not being able to purchase the Multicam bag when it was available.

I understand your apprehension regarding the price, it does seem like allot of money for "just a bag". I can honestly say that I never thought I’d be spending that much on a drag bag either but after buying a lesser bag and being frustrated with its shortcomings I jumped on the CB group buy and I’m glad I did! I’ll probably have that bag the rest of my shooting life and I enjoy it every time I use it. That sure beats wishing I had gotten the bag I really wanted but settling, which was the position I found myself in with the other bag.

I’m not always of the “buy once, cry once” mindset; I generally factor value heavily in my purchasing decisions. I firmly believe the value is there with this bag. Now, what to do with brand x…

THIS

These bags are so well thought out, it's really an investment in your gear to get a Tac-Ops bag. You'll never regret buying quality, you'll great buying cheap products and when they break, having it buy it again.

Re: What Drag Bag?

Im definitely with ya there. I never like to cheap out when it comes to gear. I'm a firm believer in buying the right gear the first time. I just don't have the funds after buying everything I just did for my build. Maybe down the line, I just hate buying stuff twice.

Just noticed you setup is almost identical to mine (assuming that is the B&C "Light Tactical". Only differences are I went with a Seekins bottom metal and a Badger 20 MOA base as I like the idea of a steel base on a steel barrel. I'm awaiting arrival of a group-buy HDMR as well; it'll replace my Bushnell 4200 3-12 FFP that has already moved to my Mk12 SPR clone. Best of luck with your new rig!

Yea I got the hdmr today. It's awesome! I went with the seekins base due to the lightweight. I got the tactical 2. Not sure if that's considered the light tactical. Should be a good starting ground for sure. I can't wait, I'm very excited to get it together.

Re: What Drag Bag?

The Tac Ops bag seems like a lot, but is on par with other bags and looks to have more value. I think the hideaway shooting mat seals the deal for me. Damm, every time I log into a forum... I feel like I've gotta talk myself out of new purchase. There should be a disclaimer on some threads
