I just picked this rifle up 9.25 twist I love heavy bullets I was wanting to run the 184 Berger’s, and until I burn this barrel up then I will do an 8 twist for something bigger. Any one shoot 184s or heavier out of this twist rate on a 7mm rem mag
Pretty certain you're gonna want that 1:8 for anything 180 and greater. I just snagged a deal on 1000 183 SMK's for one of my 7MM's, and it's 1:8. My other 2 are 1:9 and they get a steady diet of 168 Bergers and 162 AMAX & ELD Match.
According to Berger's response to my question around the 180 out of a 24" 1-9 twist, if you are at 500 ft above sea level you get the equivalent benefit of a faster twist barrel. How much faster they did not say. They base their twist rate requirements at sea level. I'll know for sure if this is true in a few weeks for the 180 and 190 target Hydrid shooting at 1200 yards @ about 4500 ft above sea level.
