What have you done different

I'm still working 10-12 hours a day, more now than before but that was all planned work as things for us pick up once the spring thaw hits and we can do actual track maintenance. As a traveling crew, we're outside Denver right now so we're keeping clear of people as much as possible. Instead of restaurants and bar food every night, we pick up steaks and grill out in the evenings for dinner, otherwise it's pretty much business as usual for us, just much more cautiously. The hotel no longer provides daily maid service or breakfast, but they're so damn glad they have thirty rooms filled by us for three weeks (Sunday-Friday) they're letting us keep our rooms across weekends without charging our company extra and doing a good cleaning upon request over the weekends, just to keep us happy. Go Best Western, we're glad you're even open...

My wife is still working, counseling via phone/video 90% of the time instead of everything direct face to face. She hates it, especially with kids since they fail miserably on attention span when you're not right in front of them. Daughter who is also in mental health at a residential hospital is getting very frustrated as the state hospital, where the real crazy folks get sent, is no longer accepting new patients as a safeguard to the ones they have. People are not getting any better, and those with anxiety and similar conditions are all having their fears realized in real life right now. Bottom line, this is going to have a mental health crisis hit the country right along with the medical crisis. Keep an eye and ear out for loved ones, suicide is already seeing an uptick.

For the rest of it, I was already prepared for things to turn sour, although that's pretty easy when there's only two of us. Blizzards and power outages are a reality for anyone in remote town Wyoming, so I stay in a constant three month minimum supply on pretty much everything we use day-to-day. I had a 20 cu-ft freezer about half full and recently fell into a great deal on a 1/4 beef, so it will be packed solid in two weeks. I live in the sticks so I do my shopping by the case anyhow, and had a very good supply of everything other than meat as well right along with all paper goods. A Fisher stove in the basement and two cords of wood on hand in case things get real crazy on the supply, but my tulips and daffodils are coming up so have to say it's an early spring this year and won't be needing that too much.

The only thing I didn't have more of that I'm using now was hand sanitizer, I really don't care for the stuff as my knuckles and cuticles are dry enough and split in the winter as it is. But life on the road necessitates I am in and out of gas stations and other places all the time, and of course I don't have the ability to wash up on the truck. Thankfully our foreman keeps a healthy supply of PPE on hand for our crew, including Purell, so we're good even there.

If shit goes completely sideways, well, BTDT, but nobody's getting their zombie apocalypse melee dream out of a 2% killer.

Conveniently this happened right around the same time I was moving, and had already been laid off because of the Winter season. Not a whole lot different, the new chicken coup is almost done, I'm pissing a gew more people off than usual by using logic and reason and not loosing my shit in panic like they are.

And sneezing in Walmart is a lot more fun. I sneeze loud, like shotgun loud.

Not a fucking thing.

I live in shitville nowhere. The "new" neighbors down the way came back from florida. Saw an ambulance pull in and have been listening on the scanner and it looks like these turds brought the sickness with them.... Now, i'm not for shredding the constitution so they can do their thing and live in whatever peace they normally do.

Just knowing that my rate of death is 180 per 10M lets me know this disease is the biggest joke of my lifetime.

What I am concerned about is what happens when they bring in martial law ( under a new name) and people in the boondocks start twitching.... We dont like police around here much and they know it.

Talked to my cousin who works at a local county jail. She said they let out 89 prisoners due to covid concerns....I'm starting to wonder if there is a penalty for anything anymore.

Just got home from work about an hour ago. I intubated 7 patients in about 10 hours. 6 of them will turn out to be COVID-19. 3 of them are under 45 yrs old without significant medical history. Most likely, 4 of them (maybe 5) won't make it off the ventilator alive.

I've been an ER doc for over 20 years and have seen a lot of shit both here and overseas. Magtech, you're a fucking idiot.

Yeah, ok. I'll belive your made-up numbers when they affect the actual statistics.

Ordered new glasses so I can keep up with the real news via SH Bear Pit. All the fapping to free pornhub premium has caused me to go blind. Hoping shit gets back to normal soon so my waxer from Wuhan can get my palms sorted post haste. Hair is a shit lubricant no matter what @pmclaine says!

Spending more time out in the desert with my guns, “social distancing”. This was the reward tonight....

although we have plenty of paper towels, we aren't using them nearly as much.
we are using dishtowels more instead of using paper towels for everything.

Inventoried the pantry and restocked frozen / canned foods. Cleaned my AR pistol and put fresh batteries in the light and Aimpoint. Loaded 900 rds into mags and put them in a couple MTM Mag Cans.

It's a shame you don't know a guy with a landscape nursery in your area. @oneshot86 might even have trained a "hand" to tell the difference between a shovel and a landscape sign.

Beautiful project buddy. If I weren't busy fishing I'd be down there salvaging St Aug turf one shovel at a time

You could always come down when we have our neighborhood yard sale.
We'll take shovels and a pallet with us. Pull up to the nearest nice yard and start digging it up. We'll ask them how much for the sod... ??

What do you mean by 'the coming games'?
There are going to be hungry people, an entitled people who have never known hungry will become dangerous people. You will also see people who do not know their neighbors as a neighbor, having issues with each other over this. (that part has already started in many places, and between different states as well)
The full effect of all this will not hit for another 3-4 weeks, then people who never think past their nose will start becoming problems everywhere. We have seen it already here in rural NE Alabama not because of locals, but people from Ga stripping the local chinamarts. I am very mixed on this as I understand both sides of that coin,....but if they keep on pressing locals here there will be a major back lash. Minor ones have accrued already, but it's only been shoving an fists to this point. However in the south most everyone carry's an you don't know who is related to who unit the games in play. Blood kin is strong here.

Good friend of mine who is high on the food chain on the ER floor of a large Ga hospital, has self quarantined away from his family as he has it. Talking to him he is sounding stronger everyday. Last week I'd have given him a 2.5, but now he seems to be about an 8 an moving up rapidly. Last week sounded more like pollen issues though, the 19 may have not kicked in as of yet as he was just tested 4-5 days ago. Praying every night an morning he does not go down hill. The interesting thing, back in Jan they had 17 from one floor out at the same time, all but one are fine now. The one turned into a major lung issue. Don't know the end result as I don't what to broach it to cause thinking issue for him. Don't know how close if at all, they were either

Stealing plants use to happen at new Cell sights in all hoods for years. The carrier would do their best to hide the sight with high end plants an newly planted trees an the next night the drive by looting would happen. Some trees had to be transplanted with a special truck do to size, yet they were removed w/o anyone seeing/hearing anything. Must have been those new stealth trucks,...LOL

Never played with those, but that scene in The Green Berets was one of my favorites.
55 gallon drums work well, M4 burst-er in the bottom, fill with *Fuel* soaked sand/dirt cover the top with plastic so they can't be found via smell or the fuel evaporate.
*Fuel* most any fuel will work but some of the best, is home made concoctions that are worst than Napalm.

Didn't see nuffin.
Thieves piss me off.

They do the same here at construction sites. Landscaping, sod, building materials and brand new AC systems

NY city people I deal with are worried...they are talking about feeling nervous and anxious about being in a city with a small fridge and no storage and no protection...

No fucking sympathy from here in flyover country. I bet they're the same people who dismiss most of the country between the coasts.

Too fucking bad

I don't disagree. I told them to go ACE HW and buy a hickory ax handle. Drill a hole and attach a sturdy lanyard. Keep it at < 18". Carry it everywhere you go by foot..

Answer most typically heard was that I couldn't use that on another person. I am hoping that it never gets to that.

A College, Grad or Law degree, unfortunately, does not provide the common sense these types of people need. Nice people but it is hard to go through life with VICTIM on your forehead.

I feel kinda bad for them. The government and city officials will get this figured out. They are all WAY smarter than us uneducated hillbillies, They were able to tackle the big issues like limiting salt intake and soda size. This will be easy. I thank God daily that I am nowhere near a big city pandemic or not.

They are food

I think this thing is real and will get worse. So we're honoring the threat. We're staying home more, avoiding contact with others as much as possible, not eating out, not going to crowded places, discouraging company, ect.

I'm catching up on chores, reloading, watching an occasional movie, We get out for the occasional ride but its in the rural, away from people.

I'm missing having a beer and lunch at the local breweries!

Hahaha Bullseye123 you just made me shoot coffee out of my nose.....Not too much of a change of pace for me in Montana, now that things are warming up I'm going fishing. I have a part time gig pushing an armored car around, and been actually pretty busy. Banks have been going through about 4X the amount of cash on a weekly basis. ATM's have been getting cleaned out with people hoarding cash, but that looks to be slowing down some. Only 2 changes I've made: Wearing nitrile gloves at work, and having a suppressed 300 Blackout in a sneaky bag in my car.

My house was being built in 2004 (AZ). Construction nearly completed, down to the last couple days before completion. We get a call from our GC who tells us t hat completion was pushed out a couple weeks because the house was broken into and all the fixtures, doors, door hardware, appliances, everything....cleaned out. We didn't have to pay for any of that since it was still construction site and responsibility of the builders but I was plenty pissed off. We were renting a place while ours was being built and I had to ask our landlord to extend us a month after i'd already given notice....

Still working...
Eating less...
Shooting more...
Working out...
Actually cleaned my car. Good GOD, did it need it!!!

Kids are doing schoolwork on computers and then making her crazy.

Been looking at all the mini frig's out there. Found the one I wanted (2 door model w/ freezer) that will run on a small PSW inverter. Bought it an she will be in on the 13th of this month. If she is as advertised I'll get another as the inverter (600 watt w/1KW surge) will pull two of them w/o issue. Plus two will not kill the battery bank for many, many, weeks w/o recharge. Specs say < 50 watt draw running. I like ice an the ability to store pot meat if it comes to that. Once the steam engine/generator is done I'll feel much better. Even better yet once the wood gasifier is completed as well. Looks like the gasifier will have no issue supplying Ford-a-lay (F-350 flat bed w/a SBC 350 engine & trans). I might be paranoid about now an next year,... but this shit is cheap insurance, just in case. Interesting thing is seems many others are prepping for the unknown as well,...

Basic Prepping an F/C go hand in hand, most of the time. A good go bag has just about the same gear,... as one would carry for a 5 day game of tag. Although most these days, ride to their L/D an resupply is but a button push away, vs having to hump everything for who knows how long. The good thing is knowing how to resupply from mother along the way,...even though Ice cold Celery & peanut butter,...don't seem to grow wild in any place I've been to date,...:)
