What is an AR12?

Re: What is an AR12?

I would assume, that judging by the calibers offered...it's just a companies decision to build their own "large frame" AR upper's and NOT infringe on Armalite's "AR10" name.
AR15PERFORMANCE is the place doing the builds, just see what they have to say about them.

Re: What is an AR12?

There were 28 12s built in 2010 and sold to friends to test. Since then the project has taken a back seat because I just don't have the man power to machine all of the parts and still take care of the customers wanting AR15 parts and builds.
It isn't just a AR10/LR308/LAR8 it is between the AR15 and AR10 in size. Depending on the receiver it is a 308 class rifle that does mount on DPMS, Armalite or Mega 308 class lowers. The biggest complaint I hear about the 308 ARs is the weight so I scaled it down to cut off a several ozs, it can be as light as 6oz more than a AR15 with the same profile barrel. The first batch did use AR15 free float rails.
I am trying to wind down and retire in about 5 years, not sure if I will ever produce the 12 again.

Re: What is an AR12?

More or less, I still have a 6.5x47 and 2 308s in the safe for personal use.
I don't know if I am going to stay in cruise mode or if I'll add a few machines and people to run them this next year or not. Not ready to sell the idea just yet. Oct to tax refund time is the busy season for us. I'll think about making another run.
