A suppressor. All the rest, in .223, are essentially mental masturbation, not much better than unit that came with your rifle and a complete waste of $$$. IMO, the only exception is made for folks that want to quiet things down for themselves and those around them. In that case, this works very well. Back pressure increases.

I got a buddy whose friend's brother had a kid whose nephew bought one of these online and he hasn't been seen since...cool.

Based upon my research, a Battlecomp will likely be my next combo comp/flash hider. Not sure they are the very best flash hider, but what they offer on reducing recoil combined with blast reduction has me sold. See their website here...

Best of luck...

my blackout has the ring to it too. the harmonics are a little crazy on it. it will ring when i run the charging handle. when i fired it at the range, people thought there ears were ringing even though they had ear protection on because of noise from the blackout flash hider.

Great brake, but holy crap.. my friend's Surefire brake makes us move away when he's shooting it. I've shot his rifle and it works very good.

Haven't shot the battlecomp, but I hear good things about it.

Currently I'm using the KAC triple tap and it works very good as well. Not as great as the surefire which is a true brake, but mine at least doesn't have as bad of a blast compared to a true brake. I like it.. but the cost is expensive which makes it hard to justify having it unless you have spare cash.

Re: What is the Best .223 Flash Hider

The video with the Battle Comp shows a heavy dust cloud when they shoot prown, and I was surprized that the Blackout has the same ring sound that I've read about Vortex. Still searching for the best flash hider ??

The Blackout, B.E. Meyers, and Surefire are the best available non suppressed form of flash hiders. The Blackout is the most cost effective. A can is great when you need a can, and is an ideal flash suppression device, but has its own drawbacks as well.

Re: What is the Best .223 Flash Hider

The Blackout gets my vote with the Vortex following close behind. Both are cheap to buy and you can't really go wrong with either.

You didn't mention what barrel length you were using this with. This makes a difference when choosing the hider too especially if stretching that 14.5" into a non-sbr.

Re: What is the Best .223 Flash Hider

I have the aac blackout... I have fired it at night quite a bit, and the muzzle flash is nearly completely gone. It does ring like a tuning fork. I can even hear it through my earmuffs after every shot.. 16 inch barrel, 5.56
