I have shot Southwest Ammo's 175 load through many gas guns and it has done very well in all of them.

Depending upon how much shooting you will be doing near 800, you may want to look towards the 175. At 800 the 175 will do much better then the 168. Unless I was shooting a match 400 and closer I would run the 175s.
Yea there are some internet snipers here, but you might be suprised just how knowledgeable some of them are... and more so, who they are.

Best "groups" = 168 because you are 100-200 yards
Best Accuracy at distance is 175gr
People are also known to shoot the 155's at any distance

Sponsored mil operators usually don't go to the Internet peanut gallery for advice on ammo.
But you have been steered in the right direction w/ SW.
I'm surprised LaRue didn't use low weight flat tailed BR bullets for 100 yd testing/ proofing. Knight11B4 as spot on with the 168 inside 400, 175 for everything advice.

You should see the look I get in my unit when I bring up the OBR." you are shooting a 18"?? " So, that's why I posted here. I already know how a 155, 173, 175LR shoot out of a 24" barrel, But not out of an 18". And I know that generally for every 1" down in barrel length their is a loss of about 100FPS from the muzzle.. All I was trying to do is gather information from people who have shot the OBR. And the majority that has come of it? nothing but doubt from others and meaningless comments.

Also, by now most units have the M110, which would be better to compare to the OBR instead of the M24.

My understanding from talking with the LaRue folks is that the OBR was designed around the M118LR round. They use the Federal GMM 168gr round at 100yds to proof the rifles before shipping.
My 18" OBR loves both the 168 & 175 GMM. I have also had great success with the Southwest Ammo 175 Winchester brass rounds. Plus you can't beat the price and services for the quality of round. I have not had good success with the Black Hills ammo for whatever reason.
I have no problem with either the GMM or the Southwest Ammo 175's out to 1,000 yds.

Hold2 I have witnessed many an accurate shot from said rifle in very competent hands at an exclusive range behind locked and guarded security gates in N.C with 118LR. The OBR performed flawlessly and reproducing said round is fairly easy. Were it me, that is the route I would look at. But I run Lapua 155s by the 1000s through 308 as well.

you know how we always say read more? well i think this guy has done that, he has read way too much......shotgun news and SWAT magazine, and Call Of Duty Black Ops articles.

Funny thing is I actually got to shoot costas OBR at the magpul dynamics PR1 course in June and it's now why I own one. I will say out of my 18" OBR 168gr groups really nice inside 400 past that the 175gr from southwest ammo is the only way to go in my opinion. Also it was discussed earlier about comparing the 110 to the OBR I've shot both extensively and there is just no comparison the OBR is FAR superior. At like half the cost. It's really to bad that there is no way for a variety of reasons that big army will adopt the OBR.

Yep. I was there... Saw it done... I even got to put a dozen or so rounds downrange with it myself. Costa was quite generous in letting folks shoot his OBR. Based on that experience, I also purchased one.
Hits were made out to 1150 on 18X24 target IIRC ( I know the range is right, but I could have the target dimensions wrong). I know I personally made hits at ~955 with it. Impressive (at least to me). Oh, and BTW, it was one dirty stick. Had hundreds of rounds (supressed and unsupressed)through it with minimal to no cleaning.

I don't know anybody who has ever said the OBR is the weak link in their shooting. As for accuracy past 600? I'll answer that question this way. I saw the instructor caylen put two rounds in the air at the same time both hits at 850. What I mean by that is fire, reaquire, fire again before the first round hits and then have the second round hit the target as well. Oh and he stacked the rounds by the way. The OBR is phenomenal. A lot of people have a heart burn with M. Larue, I have no opinion either way about that but no one can deny his company turns out great stuff.

What I mean by that is fire, reaquire, fire again before the first round hits and then have the second round hit the target as well. Oh and he stacked the rounds by the way. The OBR is phenomenal. A lot of people have a heart burn with M. Larue, I have no opinion either way about that but no one can deny his company turns out great stuff.

At the class I was at, he was running the 18". They also had a 16" that one of the gunwriters was running.
