Rifle Scopes What is wrong with these rings?

They came on my .50 BFG with some generic scope that I took off. When I took off the scope, it was crimped. The tube is 30mm, and the rings measure 29.96 mm with a little gap in them. They are steel rings also. They have little rings cut inside them on the bottom and top ring. So it looks like they match, but they look like they are asymmetrical. Or eccentric might be a better word. Whose rings are they and do they look right? Wonder why 30mm rings crimped on a 30 mm tube.

Don't know whose rings they are but the top and bottom are meant to have a gap in between and when that gap is there they should make a circle.

They probably crimped the scope tube because they were tightened down all the way. If the ring halves touch they are way too tight.

Yeah good copy on the gap. Guess they are mystery rings.

I have some marine buddies that think rings are supposed to be tightened until they can't be tightened anymore.

They look like Chinese copies of a set of Badgers with rather poor machining.

Yeah. I've seen that before. " they aren't tight until the gap is closed" is common I think.
