will be used here in Wisconsin at 100 to 300 yards on a range where everyone shoots off a bench and maybe a trip a year for P-dogs out west. The Leupold 12x is ok but Id like something different.

thanks for the input!

Of the ones that you mentioned, I would go with the SN3, but there are other models to consider that may be as good or a better fit. For the money that you are looking to drop in that USO, consider NF. It will be cheaper and give you more magnification on the top end. If that is to expensive for you taste, Sightron has several options to look at in their SIII line. I personally am not a fan of a fixed power scope above 10x, but I don't shoot BR either.

I didnt think GAP rifles needed optics. just press the trigger and the round hits bulls everytime... i must be mistaken.

I agree with Head2H20 on the 10x I run Leupold M4 3.5 x 10 out to 800yds. Just train with what you have and get proficient with it. no amount of money in the world can buy proper fundamentals.

all of the optics listed will give you more than enough capability at the ranges you described. good luck with your GA Precision and have fun.

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

I say a leupy 3.5-10 or maybe a NF 2.5-10x32

For what you plan on doing I would even say maybe a new Vortex PST with whatever reticle you prefer.

Not a terrible idea right there. Another one to throw in the mix!

Why so much Mag? If you're mainly 100-300 yds I'd think you are fine with what you have.

BUT, if you're just itching for new stuff (nothing wrong with that) then maybe a 1.8-10 37MM USO?

More mag is cool and all, but heavy... bench doesn't matter but if you're walking around with it it could make a difference.

If you are wanting to buy for more range later then that makes sense, especially for the $ you'll be looking at.

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

as much as I love my uso's. I would think about the 2.5-10X32 nxs with the velocity reticle. They are pretty damn slick little units. Compact as hell, all the features you need, all the mag you need, and a real handy little reticle at a pretty fair price.

Just a thought. I would not trade my 1.8-10X37 SN3 for one ore even two...but I am a uso whore.

Im not going to lie. My dad has one on an OBR and another on a Noveske SPR and they are the heat. If you sight them in per the instructions you will never turn the knobs on them again inside of 600 yds.

again just a thought.

Yeah, based on the choices you listed, the SN-3 (I have one on a 223AI right now).

WTF does that mean?

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

Unless it did not track properly, I would most likely stick with the 12x M8 on a 223.

If it did not already have them, I would send the M8 in to Leupold for some target turrets. A set of M1 knobs on it, along with a reticle of your choice, and I would call it good.

Of course if you have an itch that can only be scratched in the form of a box that says "USO" on it, by all means, scratch away!

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

Voted USO. I am a little biased as a SN3 sits atop my 223AI. I did have a M8 12X with fine reticle on 223 LVSF and while it did ok I did find the fixed power to hinder me at times.

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

Higher power is what your gonna want if your planning to out west, just go ahead and get a 5.5-22x50 Nightforce NSX and pop some pdawgs... Anyway i wouldn't limit the rifle to 300 yards if it's capable of 600

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

SN3.

I can shoot lowered powered scope just fine, I just choose not to limit myself just because every internet commando chants "10X is fine to 1000".

Re: what scope for a GA Precision remington 223

The USO ST10 are great scopes, I use 2 of the USO ST10s 10x. Another scope you my what to look at for the cost is the Vortex Viper PST. For the price the PST are really nice but hard to get at times.

You really didn't just post that did you?

If the OP is down for an ST-10 (or anything else Mike has on hand) CS Tactical is solid good to go. I got my ST10 from Mike and he hand delivered it (I can't guarantee he'll hand deliver yours, but....).
