What scope mag. do you prefer on your trainer?

I am building a trainer and about to make a decent purchase on optics (at least decent for my budget at less than $700) so im curious on what magnification you like to run on your rifles? What are you able to see at 100 yards with your setups in terms of paper targets at say 100 yards? (I know it depends on what the target is, but lets just say reagular paper..)

It has to be mil/mil, preference is variable (either SFP or FFP).I'm torn between the Viper HS 5-15 or the Weaver 3.5-10 mil/mil. I realize I could go with a decent fixed like the SWFA or an Elite but I want to keep the scope as versatile as I can with target/hunting applications.

for double duty as hunter / target i like 4-16. a great range of magnification to easy to spot shots at 100 even on hot hazy days but low enough magnification to not "lose" your target or critter closer up. mildot reticle.

target only i prefer 6-24 or 8-32 as it's super easy to spot hits further out than 100. for target only i like the darget dot reticle.

10-12x at 100 is nice for ease of spotting .22lr hits on paper.

Good to know, I figured 10x would be sufficient but I really like to be up close. I'm pretty sold on the viper unless I come up with a better reason to get the Weaver tactical 3.5-10.

If I had a real big person job Id spend 700$ for good glass for my 22 trainer.

Ive been using the BSA mil/mil ffp scope 4-14x44.

Id like to get the vortex 5-15 mil mil for my 308 though, looks nice.

Another one to look at is the PA 4-16x40 FFP mil/mil scope. Mine has passed the box test at 50 and 100 yards. I need to see how well the reticle tracks, but I have yet to extend the ranges due to weather.

I have the Bushnell Elite 3200 10X mil dot,,at 300 yards on 10X seems aweful close to shooting a 308 at 900-1000 with 20X optics,,

If your budget is 700 I very highly recommend the Bushnell Elite Tactical 6 - 24 x 50 . Its a solid scope and enough magnification range to do just about anything.

Do you find yourself happy with the fixed 10x? How is it sporting shots at 100 yard when shooting paper, or do you find yourself wanting more mag? I love the price and mil/mil of this scope.
