Im about to buy a new scope for my savage 308. Anybody have any ideas on what to get? Ive been looking at the leupold m4s and various nightforce scopes. Im trying to stay around $1500. I usually shoot between 100 and 200 yards as it is but im moving my deer stand to a bigger field and i want to start putting some longer shots out there. I dont know much about nightforce but i notice more and more people are getting them.
what scope should i go with?

honestly if you are shooting at 200yds and under your wasting your money on a nightforce. if your going to stretch it way out their go for a nightforce 3.5x15x50 npr1 and don't look back. However if you are going to just plink with it and maybe hunt to 600yds and under save your money and just buy a leupold and put m1 knobs on it doesn't have to be a mark 4, a vx III with target turrets will do just fine.

Take a look at the Sightron SIII,it is a really good value compared to scopes costing a lot more.Things I don't like about mine are the EL knob turns a little too easy(no tactile clicks),dots are too big on mildot,like the duplex better,and no illuminated model available.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think im going to go with the nightforce 3.5X15X56 npr1. I cant decide yet if im going to get the zero stop or not. Its a little more but this is a scope ill prolly have for a while..thanks again
