Looking to build a range. Got word today that were able to get some land to shoot on out to 1000 yards. What kind of targets would you use and how would you do it if you had $500-$600 to do it with right now. This will be my first venture out past 500 yards. I want to have a spot to sight in at 100, 200 and 300 yards. Will be shooting from 223 to 338 lapua. I will be able to leave targets stands up all year around too. Thanks

I'd recommend at least two IPSC or military E-type silhouettes. Put one at the target line and back one out to the 200 yard line. Set up your first shooting position at the 500-yard line and you can start banging away and collecting 300 and 500 yards. Back up a hundred yards and collect 400 and 600 yard data. Pick everything up and move to the 900 yard line and you collect 700 and 900-yard data. Move back again to the 1,000-yard line and collect 800 and 1,000-yard zero data.

Closer than 500 and you risk bending or shooting through your steel when you're using a .338 Lapua.

I'm partial to Big Dog Steel targets.
