I've got a couple pounds of AA2495 that I originally bought to push some 168 gr. SMK's in a 308. I later found some Varget and have since left this stuff on the shelf. I load for 223 and 6.8 SPC in AR type rifles, a 308 Remington 700 SPS, and a 30-30 for NRA silhouette competitions. I'm looking for a new load development project and thought about using it up on developing a 223 plinking load. Does anyone have a better idea for what this powder would excel at? Thanks.

I have never had any so I've never actually tried it. BUT I'm told that it is Accurate's equivalent to IMR 4895, which is one of the most universally usefull powders out there. Every caliber you named off can use 4895, and some of my most successful and accurate loads used 4895. I'd definitely give it a try for some serious loads before I used it all in plinking ammo.

I use AA2495 in my .223 w/69 smk's, shot my first clean score in a match with this combo, it shoot's 10 shot groups 1/2" or less at 100 yards. It also produced a 300 yard 1" 5 shot group at a precision match. AA has load data that you can google online.
