First of all are we talking about milliradian or minute of angle based reticles?
I don't think there is going to be a clear answer to your question since there are quite a few "ranging reticles" on the market and each one has its own merits. Honestly the best reticle is the one that you practice with and become truly proficiient at using. I've used Leupold mildot and TMR reticles, Premier Gen II reticles, Nightforce MLR and Mildot reticles, and so forth. Out of all of them I don't think I would say any one of them was better than the other, even if some of them had nice features the others didn't. The reason being that the reticles were what they were, mil-based reticles, and I know how to use them, even if they don't have features like half mil hash marks or fine increments on the ends. It doesn't matter what you get, the only thing that's going to make ranging easier is practice.
