What's the best weed killer?

sirhrmechanic 's anecdote about the piece in the free dirt is testimony, somebody may know a chem free way to get rid of it but I don't
Post numba 12.
Fiwa.
Even better if you go ahead use some chems first, preferably hydrocarbons in abundance. Let them there hydrocarbons soak in good n plety for 24 hours and apply a second coat when you open the beer tomorrow. Let that soak in for about an hour while you and Roscoe have another 6 pack. Back up a bit and toss a smoke bomb at it you lit from the Camel filter.
Sorta like brisket...it takes a good smoke to get it right.
Extra points if you do this on the day we celebrate casting off the tyranny of the King.

ACTUAL glyphosate... 41% or stronger... Mix it yourself in a 1 gallon garden sprayer...

I guess "roundup" isnt glyphosate based anymore...

The other thing would be 24D, again mixed yourself. Its broad leaf weed killer. Less harmful to you than glyphosate. Works on weeds. Doesnt work on grass.

All of these things that are "super bad for you" and whatever, sure, if you are broad spraying on tons of land... but spot spraying weeds... meh. We have some stuff thats "kinda banned" but definitely frowned upon because it has arsenic in it. Sure its really bad if you are spraying it on a hundred acres, but I mix 1oz per gallon and treat 20k sq. ft. as I spot spray johnson grass and crab grass. Im not to concerned.
Tractor Supply sells it at about 63% if I saw it correctly.....

RoundUp no longer contains Glyphosate 41% and when it did, it didn't contain pure Glyphosate 41%. If you mean don't dilute the commercially sold premixed RoundUp, that makes sense. Crossbow contains 2,4-D 34.4% and Triclopyr 16% and the strongest mixture from the label is 5½oz/gallon and it costs $55 per gallon from my CoOp. I'm guessing you don't apply herbicide per acre in an agriculture setting.

4 gallon backpack sprayer. Use however much Roundup (I buy the big jugs of concentrate) for 4 gallons. Then add however much Crossbow for 4 gallons, using the hard to kill recipe.

Kills everything.

I don’t apply herbicide in an agricultural setting. That’s not what the OP asked anyway.

Here at the farm, I use roundup concentrate, diluted with water per instructions in a backpack type sprayer that I mount on my ATV. Ditches and edges. Twice a year. Works fine.

My 3 gal jug of concentrate has lasted 3 years and is still half full. So not using a ton of it. But works well for the limited amount I use. I only use on dead calm days because the overspray takes out anything near it!

Years ago when I was a kid, we used 2-4-d but didn’t think you could get that any more. That was in a big thre point hitch boom sprayer. Used to kill off pastures that had a lot of crap and milkweed before disking and planting in clover and grass for hay. But that was my old man, not me. So my memory may be off. But I think the jugs said 2-4-d Amine? If that rings a bell. Again, I thought that stuff as banned long ago. But sounds like not? I was told to “get lost” when he was spraying, so assumed it was nasty. That was 45 years ago! I don’t do much weed killing now!

Sirhr

Yes. 2-4-D is agent orange. Also known as amine.
Not banned, just renamed.
Shame they didn't just rename DDT and chlorodane.

Somebody please tell me what will get rid of bamboo without turning my property into a nuclear wasteland and killing all the wildlife for the next 2500 years. Please.

Seriously, you need an excavator or bobcat to rip the entire root ball out. There is a plastic barrier that landscapers sell specifically for bamboo that you bury that goes down 3 feet or so and sticks about 4 inches above the ground. The root rhizome can't get past that.

You need to get a mini x and dig out ALL the roots, then trench along the property line and put the barrier in. No amount of weed killer will fix your problem otherwise.

Well at least I do own a mini x. This infestation is in deep forest and jungle. This will probably take the rest of my life, I'm going on 65 now...
Like Bartles and Jaymes used to say, Thank you for your support.

We don't want anything growing in our mulch beds
In that case, this ought to do
