Whats the most powerful round I can put in an AR-10 build?

So no. That's pretty cool I was just confused because we were talking about AR10's.
So here it is 510 whisper brass, can be purchased but expensive...(needs head turned and KAK 300 WSM bolt )with 550 gr bullet in 308 magazine, now all ya need is the barrel blank, reamer, barrel extension, opened ejection port, and a lathe to put it together. Single load the long 750 gr bullets, and you're good to go...

Ok, that 510 is interesting. I've still been leaning 45 Raptor, but finding a barrel that's not custom ordered or around $700 right now isn't panning out.

The 45 Rapter AR 10 is available for $315 16" 1-20 twist Satern Barrels, plug and play AR 10...but the twist rate is for lighter bullets, to 395 gr.
The 510 Whisper 10 twist barrel I have ordered will handle the 1002 gr the standard 50BMG barrel is 1-15 twist...but it has to be totally machined, chambered, etc as it's just a rifled blank. SSK has single shots available in a variety of calibers and their 510 Whisper, dies, and expensive factory brass.

For Iowa deer season?…
.358 Win is the easy button
The 358Win is and excellent easy to go to cartridge in the AR 10, 2300 fps with 250 gr bullets in a 16" AR 10....0r 160 gr 357 legend for more speed...varmints? 9 mm copper 50 gr at 3750 fps in a 16" AR 10 barrel. One of the most versatile calibers out there..really big game 310 gr Woodleigh?...if ya reload. Use cheap LC brass, and all manner of bulk pistol bullets, 357 mag to 9mm for plinking fun. Slightly undersize bullets are plenty accurate for close range work...unlike the 3 twist 8 6 blackout.

.358 Win AR-10's would benefit hugely from a "newer" line of higher b.c. bullets. Light and Heavy. Tune it up so it kicks light.
AltraBVLL…are you the same guy (different name) who got kicked off this forum before?

…highbclowgr…

Never heard of it ....so checked it out...sounded interesting...until...holy shit, $10 per shot, on the web page! Cost more to shoot than Hornaday match grade 750 gr 50BMG anmo, with 13,000 to 14,000 ft/bs of muzzle energy, depending on barrel length.
Cost is ridiculous. No mention of barrel lenght velocity was taken, or subs available.
So I'll stick with the 510 whisper project, for this winter, and see what it will do with lighter supersonic bullets, in 350 to 400 grs, as well as the 10002 gr subs...and I thought $2 a piece for brass was high...but 650 gr fmj sutlrplus bullets are cheap, got thousands for 24 cents ea yrs ago, and 45 cents ea including shipping a few weeks ago...good for fun plinking.

This thread makes me realize 2 things.

1. I'd pay $3000 for the above.

2. A lot of people talk about a round that copies .45 ACP ballistics.
I’ve learned that, on the internet, you can’t even have a fun discussion about meme cartridges without it devolving into people arguing like 15 year olds.

The 510 Beck is/ was available with more power than the 475 mag for the AR 10. Lancer made mags for them. Factory Loads above 5600 ft/ lbs, one load 450 gr way above.. Both are expensive. So no one buys them, and they fall by the wayside. But you can build one...

The 510 whisper reamer arrived from PT&G, a custom reamer in less than 30 days.... excellent job by Dave kiff and the people who work there. There has been quite a bit of negative on this site from time to to time but both reamers were here before the barrels. May have another 30 days or more on the barrels. Should be a fun winters project.

I ended up buying a PSA AR-15 complete lower on sale a couple months ago. I think I'm going to go with .458 socom for the upper. The other people I know who purchased the same lower are all going the .300 blackout route. Financially speaking 300bo is the better way to go but I'm gonna be the only one in the group with a .458 socom so there's that. I just can't think about the price per shot while I'm shooting it lol

I went with the 450 Bushmaster with the 1-16 (not the usual 1-22) twist barrel rather than the 458 SOCOM...as I find it more versatile. Brass is easier to find and it's capable of over 3000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy in a 16" barrel. All of this of you hand load, you can shoot 500 gr jacketed or cast bullets that are .458" just resize in cheap Lee die to .452" and bulk 500 lots of 45 cal pistol bullets...it shoots them all 185 gr copper HP to resized 458" 500 gr cast or jacketed...and slightly faster than the SOCOM. This is a picture of a resized .458" to .452" 500 gr bullet for the 450 bushmaster, for heavies any bullet that the 458 shoots the 450 will shoot plus all the light cheap pistol bullets, making it more economical...works on subs or supers interchangeable. But only with the fast 16 twist barrel and hand loads...just using factory ammo is a real negative, and changes the outcome....and choices.
