Rifle Scopes What's the proper way of zeroing US Optic knobs?

Whenever I zero my knob it's common that after I use the knob, the hash mark on the knob becomes misaligned with the hash on the scope body.

A lot of times when I unscrew the turret it goes off the click and I'm in between clicks.

I have standard #1 knobs on one scope and an Erek and #1 M40 on another scope.

Is there a way of doing things so I don't get the above?

Thanks.
