Rifle Scopes What's the scoop on the PST?

Re: What's the scoop on the PST?

They are good; I really like mine. Check out the threads when they started shipping about a month ago.

Re: What's the scoop on the PST?

There are quite a few in use now.
If they were breaking you would no doubt be hearing about it here first(!) followed by much piling on by those who are emotionally invested in it's competition.

LOL, aint that the truth.

There were a bunch of guys Pre-bitching, but they kind of shut up once they started getting into folks hands.

I am sure there will be problems here and there, as always, but the PST is shaping up to be a game changer IMO.

Re: What's the scoop on the PST?

I've been keeping an eye out for PST review threads on here. I've pretty much decided I want one but still am a little cautious about throwing down the money without getting to look through one. I haven't seen much said about the glass, good or bad. As long as they're the equivalent of a Mk4 in that arena then I'm sold, good enough for me for the price. Would still really love to see some side by side pictures of a PST and a Mk4, maybe even a NXS thrown in for good measure...

... now if I could just find a 6-24 FFP mrad in stock...

Forgive the hijack... But I REALLY like the way you put that. You sir, have a way with words. Kudos!

I'd say that the glass is just as good as a MK4 if not a little better, but I don't want to get ahead of myself

Great way of putting it.

That's really good news. It's great to see the "VOID" in optics, that was there for so long, go away. There were no really good mid priced choices. You could get okay glass but no matches in reticle/turret, no FFP, etc. It was either $300 for a SS or $850 for a used Leupold Mk4.

I would have to agree. Just my opinion, but I compared my 2.5-10 and 4-16x50 FFP to a Leupy Mk4 6.5-20. I really didn't see any difference as far as glass with all three at 10x. I will say that the Mk4 has been a very good scope for me, at least as far as durability. I've not had the problems with it that many have had (perhaps I got lucky). To me, durability is the one thing yet to be proven from the PST's, and it's just too early to tell.

+1 You hit it on the nose.

Is $1,0000 like 1000K yards?

Would definitely have to agree. If I disliked my PST in any way, believe me, I'd let people know.

Re: What's the scoop on the PST?

I got my PST in last week. I would say that it is a step up from the Viper. I got the 6-24X50 SFP model. The glass is pretty nice. The clicks are positive. I don't really know if they are repeatable as far as setting go. I'm having a bit of an issue with mine and at this point am not sure if it is the scope or the rifle.

Are you talking about setting the zero stop? If so, Vortex has a great video up on youtube that will walk you through installing the shims and setting the zero stop. I just finished placing my order for the same model and I'm excited to get my hands on it. Although, I think I'm pretty late to the game so I may be waiting a little while before it shows up. Still waiting for my Atlas V8 to be built too. It's gonna be a rough wait

I'll be sure to post my $.02 once it arrives.
