My entire life I have considered myself a Republican...but more importantly a MODERATE Republican. As such there was always the ability to find common ground and allow logic to drive decisions. Most importantly, it was always possible to reach across the aisle to MODERATE Democrats and get things done for the common good.

I guess I missed the memo! When did moderate become a bad word and they pulled all the aisle seats?
    Neville Chamberlain was a moderate.

    Neville Chamberlain was a moderate.

He was also a moderate that learned his lesson. Shortly after Churchill became Prime Minister, he asked Chamberlain to stay on as one of his cabinet members.

About the time of Dunkirk, many of the cabinet members were urging a peace agreement with Hitler.

Chamberlain was one of the few that advised Churchill not to negotiate with Der Fuhrer. After all he got his ass burnt by him and didn’t want to see it happen again.

The moderates of today don’t learn their lessons and like the Marxists think that they are so much smarter than us knuckle dragging slope headed troglodytes.

Moderate here too but I feel like too much ground has been given to the liberal loons. People on the right of center no matter what need to Unite and stAnd up against this cancel culture and other extremist views. They are doing a better job than we are at voicing their opinions. But they also have those in charge on their side, ie big tech

It is not only that they are better at voicing their opinions, they are also better at building a coalition. Liberals require far fewer purity tests than do conservatives. They will pretty much accept you and your votes, as long as they get your votes. Conservatives, on the other hand, do everything they can to marginalize their natural allies and more moderate members. This has changed a bit recently with how fucking crazy the left has gotten, but up until a couple of years ago, you never saw Dems primarying each other, and you never hear them ridiculing their more moderate voters as ficking DINOs and telling them they have no place in the party.

Conservatives are right on almost every issue there is, but there is no less strategic group known to man. The ostracizing of moderate conservatives is but one data point in a sea of them.

What you have stated is valid.....conservatives have a narrow spectrum of tolerance. However, when you broaden that spectrum, you will slowly devolve to where we are today! Compromise or moderation is simply a slow way to lose your liberties! The marxist are very patient (until of recent) in their determined goal to eradicate every principle upon which America was founded! memtb

It's a bad strategy if it creates worse results than would otherwise be attained. That is completely removed from my personal preferences for, basically, all things very conservative. If the strategy is basically acceleration into chaos, I don't think it is very well thought out, and it sure as hell isn't conservative. And yes, I realize this is my main disagreement with the Bear Pit. So be it.

Well, like it or not, and I do not, no matter how great your Constitution, societies are going to look a lot like their social norms over time. That is just the fact. By ostracizing everybody to the left of the furthest right, you lose the fight to determine social norms, and you lose society. You may think that is an excuse for frog boiling, but I'd argue that it is more like a heat tamer. I am no suggesting compromise, I am suggesting that ostracizing natural allies is not a strategy

A refresher on the Prisoner’s Dilemma Game theory may be in order. It normally contemplates RATIONAL actors, but is obviously made even more destructive when folks are acting irrationally. While Wikipedia is normally not the greatest resource, for those unfamiliar it provides a decent overview.

By the exact same logic and the same token as you keep compromising and cede more and more ground to the left it only goes one way. They take more of your blood and sweat, you get less from them, and they chip away at your liberty till you are no more than their slave.

The Democrats are not a political party. They are an organized crime syndicate pretending to be a political party. There is NOTHING liberal about them. They are in it for power and to rule you, and if you don't understand that you are too fucking stupid to be an American.

Don't believe it you fucking idiot? HR1 in the 2019-2020 session was actually not as heinously grotesque as HR1 is in the 2020-2021 session. Both are basically the end of the democratic element of our Republic. It would remove all election integrity protections, and allow wholesale cheating on an industrial scale (even larger than the fraud that installed Biden). It would also put all power to draw districts in the Democrat Party's hands. Republicans would never, ever win another national election, and their power would be reduced by at least 50% in every state. It is literally the end of The Republic, but then when this history is written I believe that we will place the end at the last election, on which there is a mountain of evidence (including surveillance footage) of massive vote counting fraud. Make no mistake, this is their #1 priority, and the most important issue facing them for two sessions running. If they can end the filibuster and actually pass this it's over right then, boom.

I hope you fully join with the enemies of The Republic, and stop pretending to be on the side of sanity, because there is no middle ground. This is going to end in civil war, period. The Democrats have made certain of it; in case you haven't seen the armed camp that DC has become. They are right to be afraid. Once they physically attack the American people they will quickly find that for every soldier who breaks their oath and fires on our people there are a thousand patriots to fire back. They are hopelessly, hilariously outnumbered.

read it and weep commie sympathizer/appeaser: For the Democrat Party Act

I used to be a Moderate. I was raised by a radical who believed in every part of the Constitution without which our Country ceased. I thought, " you ignorant old people, we have a right to happiness, to do our own thing." Still, if I saw some one being beaten I would step in to stop the beating. Now I am a Libertarian. If I see somebody getting a beating I will join in 'cause the beating is deserved or the beater is enjoying "It's" happiness. Signed, Standing for Nothing

    Please elaborate
Well, amendments 16, 17, 23 and 24 to start. And before anybody says they are not part of the constitution, the constitution allows for amendment, so they are.

While not being a fan of many of the amendments, I think it is too difficult to amend, which has justified a lot of amendment from the bench. There was probably a middle ground.

I don't think a foreign born person should be prohibited from being President.

I think states should be able to break up more easily, conversely, I think it should be much, much more difficult to add new states.

Most of it is very good, but there are problems.

What parts do you not "believe in?"
If this a response to my post, I was being sarcastic. I personally respect all of the US Constitution. My point was when we don't stand and say here is the line, when will we stand? As a nation's citizens collectively we have not stood. Many a Preacher has told their congregation stay out of politics and the Bible isn't all true. One can not claim Belief/faithfulness when any portion of the "faith" can be dismissed. I now voice truth everywhere/when. Yes, also in church, I will not let heresy go uncontested.

If you ain’t them, you’re the bad guy.
If you’re them, well they still might end up hating you. Probably something could be analyzed where deep inside they hate themselves...not to get too deep

Just stop caring and have a laugh at their crazy shit, that’s what I do.

I was at the market a few hours ago, not wearing a mask, walk outside and this dude is standing there all by himself, outside, mask on but below his nose, I (with no mask at all) said “hey your mask isn’t covering your nose” poor pleab looked at me like I mentally shot him with a taser or something lol

But yeah, the commie will hate you no matter what, just ask your self, what would the honey badger do.

Here's the reason "moderates" can suck it. Here we had a gentleman, who by all rights seemed to be doing a decent job; fired, day one and replaced by this. Moderates kept giving an inch, commies took 100 miles, repeat until you have the politics of china/russia which are 1000's of miles from here, but remember....moderates gave an inch (in reality they sold out their principles)..so this is what happens: put on wig , put on a bra with balloon stuffing, some type of jacket/sweater and this is what you get. But then again, we know joe is so pro....well fill in the blank folks.

Only as you try to redefine.
Example.... If you vote to allow abortion or vote for someone who votes for abortion, you are a abortionist/murderer. No such thing as a "moderate"
Example.... If you love your wife, kids you want to protect them from harm, allowing small violence to occur, ie. Searches without warrant, indoctrination, and so on means you do not love them.

What about the 24th do you find objectionable?
I don't think people who are not net taxpayers should get to vote. The ability to vote money to yourself is what has killed this country. The 24th makes that impossible.

i still haven't gotten a single "moderate" to give an example of an acceptable compromise.
universal healthcare might be the most common theme i have heard elsewhere, but working in healthcare, and having lived under the nhs overseas, i can tell you firsthand that government run hc would be a disaster. i think 12 is the current number to beat for state sponsored infanticide by one female of the species in england. free purple drank would be the least our the problems.

I can't get behind Trump, he is has no relationship with integrity, honesty or honor.

His biggest enemies are anyone who isn't blindly repeating his exact words. He attacks Republicans and people that were his strongest allies the day or week before. He refuses to strongly condemn people who are openly talking about killing members of our government, including our Republican VP.

The far left is a big threat, but right now the far right is just as big. Yes, he lost the election, No, the Democrats are not child trafficking communists controlled by China.

John McCain got booed when he tried to talk down a crowd that crossed the line. Trumpers are so far past the line they think they are the good guys and compare the opposition to Nazi.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said the 6th was like the night of broken glass. He has the history to understand what he was saying more than most. The Nazi demonized the Jews in the same ways. The Trumpers are enraging its base by demonizing its opponents as horrible child molesting, anti-American Communist, transgender raping drug dealers.

Not true? Do you think the people who were running around the Capitol with Bear Mace, Tazers, Spears, flex cuffs and using the American flag to attack police and military represent the GOP? Then why do we accept the lies that the entire Democratic Top officials are how they have been portrayed?

When I see Republican Senators staying silent and others repeating claims that have been completely disproved by a broad spectrum of Republican Officials and Republican appointed Judges I am embarrassed.

Ronald Reagan was a man of principle, sorry but Trump is a self serving RINO.

It is not time for moderates to pick an extreme to side with. The moderates from both sides have united because Biden was a better option than Trump. There are several Republicans that would have won this election, but they are too afraid of Trump to run.

The GOP needs to find a person of honor and integrity to lead. But sadly since those people are a threat to Trump he has mobilized his base to attack anyone who could beat him unless they are bowing down to him.

Let the hatters attack, but before you call me a snowflake I'm a combat veteran and have seen this exact flavor of koolaid from across the battlefield, we must do better.

McCain was a shit, but your comment has nothing to do with mine.
    McCain was a moderate republican.
If you're going to have a Republican that votes like a Democrat, you might as well just have a Democrat.

That's the entire point of this thread.
Dems have gone so far left with their lunacy, one who still claims to be a moderate is either not paying attention or malevolent. Of course there could be some overlap.

lol, mccain was a war mongering piece of shit and perhaps it may be a mistake to call him a "moderate" just because he conspired with democrats like hillary clinton to arm the muslim brotherhood in syria and launch a war that has cost over a million lives, and resulted in wide scale rape and violence not only in syria, but in europe and other places where rapists and thugs have migrated.

McCain was just a politician who liked to read his own press clippings. He probably jerked off to a framed NY Times headline calling him a Maverick. He really wasn't a moderate, though. Susan Collins is a moderate. So are a lot of the voters who have been driven away from Republicans over the last four years.

John McCain was a POS , but you can add that fagot Lindsay and Marco Rubio , both were never far behind when it came to supporting terrorism. These 3 fucks have supported who is who of international Terror.

Why is anyone surprised moderate = terrorist these days, intelligence services and MSM spent years lionizing head-chopping terrorists as moderate rebels, so why not rehash the phrase for domestic purposes.

John McCain was a POS , but you can add that fagot Lindsay and Marco Rubio , both were never far behind when it came to supporting terrorism. These 3 fucks have supported who is who of international Terror.

Why is anyone surprised moderate = terrorist these days, intelligence services and MSM spent years lionizing head-chopping terrorists as moderate rebels, so why not reuse the designation for domestic purposes.
