Any one else having problems finding standard velocity and mini mags? Looks like I am going to the internet. any one have a good place to start?

Man, I gotta tell you, good luck. At the shop I work at, we have a guy 50 hrs a week buying ammo and supplies, and he just can't keep anything .22LR in stock. We had to limit 2 boxes per customer. JPG

I haven't noticed any particular shortage of CCIs here, but in general it seems like a lot of people have come to the conclusion that ammo is just too expensive and .22 is just as fun to shoot, cheaper, and just as good for practice of marksmanship basics...thus, .22 isn't as plentiful as it has been.

CCI mini mags have been hard to find here as well. Internet is nearly impossible for a good price.

I guess I better stock up on them while I can. I just got 4 boxes of 40 grn. CCI's last week for $5.99, I will get another 4 (limit) tomorrow.

22LR has been hard to come by for at least a year now. The economy has people shooting them a lot.

I have noticed a increase in the avalibility of a lot of CCI 22 ammo in the last week. As well as other brands. More than I have seen in the last 6 months.

walmart is OUT, i found a pawn shop selling winchester hollow points in 22mag the other day for 3$ a box, 50round boxes. i bought him out, but still hard to find everywhere else,

My local shop had several cases of Standard Velocity.
Then again they've been known to have pallets of FGGM.

I like Federal.
The minimags are great but the Federal works for me. I'll buy Winchester too but not Remington. Too many duds with Remington in my experiance.
I'm missing the stingers but my current guns don't really excell with them. I used to own Marlin bolt gun and it was crazy accurate with the stingers out to 100yds!

Dang, I just called my fav gun shop in town and they just told me that they only had thunderbolts! Every other brand was bought out!

I voted for McCain, and can't stand Obama's policies, but I don't think anything that Obama has done has directly influenced the supply of 22LR ammo (other ammo is a different story, but I won't get into that). The bulk of the shortage in 22LR ammo is from hoarders, which is indirectly related to Obama's election... but I wouldn't say it is Obama's fault per say. As an aside, given what a weak hand Obama is holding now, he will make zero attempts to clamp down on firearms ownership. The biggest proponent of gun control right now is Barbara Boxer, and she is fighting for her life in liberal California.
But back to CCI... I talked to one of their reps about 6 months ago and he said that they were extending shifts trying to meet demand... he did not mention being short on powder or priming compound. Legitimately, people are buying a lot of 22LR ammo.
I buy Eley and have had no problems finding ammo... but then, I am paying $10.50 a box.

CCI wasn't running at full capacity until November or December when they called back laid-off workers. They are running at full capacity now from what I understand.....it took them long enough (I guess if you don't have components no need top ramp up production though).

Found a hardware store that was selling CCI std non-plated. I bought a box of 100. I now like the stores that have a limit policy. The pallet buyers can go to Walmart but this one store says an individual can only buy 2 boxes of ball,, and one box of hollowpoints per visit. I wouldn't be suprised if folks drop buy everyday, but it is still better than buying the store out all at once. I can't afford to keep up with that, nor do I have the room.
I don't personally hold anything against the horders(except the gun show speculators!!!!). ITs a bit extreme if the horders are still hording but many of the horders I know could only afford 15000 rounds worth and are currently working on that. It sucks to be a reloader now though, thats another whole ball of wax. I wanted to get into it but I'll be holding off until things settle down. Unfortanately price-wise things probably won't settle.

The one that galled me was the guy that was hitting Cabelas daily buying up all of their stock then setting up across the street and sold out of the back of his truck at a huge price increase.

Speaking of Cabella's, they had a bunch of Mini Mags yesterday in Fort Worth. In fact, they seemed to have about everything in stock. The place was a madhouse though. NRA weekend; join or re-up NRA membership and get a pretty sizable discount.

I ended up with their last lb, of Varget and they are sold out on CCI rimfire. We had a little warm weather on the last couple of weeks, so the farmers and plinkers must have come out in force.

CCI Mini Mag has been hard to find here but finally found some last weekend.
My dealer blamed difficulties in getting any ammo from the US for the shortage.......

Speaking of snow-Some of my most fav hunting memories were after school with a .22; rabbit hunts among the sage during a quiet snowfall, rabbit tracks all over in the fresh snow! Granted in NM, we rarely get 3feet in one day so it would be just enough to make a great hunting experiance without barrying a person alive!
