Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

I missed my golden opportunity to buy a slightly used action and barrel on here for the XCR tactical, but I have been looking at gunbroker twice a day and at Bud's Guns and Guns America and this site, and there just aren't that many used, blemished or demo rifles out there in M700 XCR Tactical. Does anyone have any other leads that I may explore? Thanks guys.

Well the Trinyte coating is a great deal tougher than most aftermarket coatings, and it's in matte black, which I wanted. Also, it comes standard with the Rem 40X trigger, which I got to play with a little bit on a buddies custom shop gun before I came over here and I loved it. Already has the barrel length and flutes I was looking for, and the flutes stop in time to get the gun milled for a brake. The only thing I don't like is the stock, which is why I would love to find a barreled action. I will be using the gun for hunting a lot and it will get abused. I don't ever go to ranges, as I have my own set up at our farm about five steps outside my back door. Will probably take it to the field 60 times a year in all types of conditions.

Probably because they are all boxed up and sold as new.

If you want an XCR Barreled action, then you are probably going to have to pony up for the whole rifle and sell the stock.

Exactly.

By the way, anyone know where I can find a Shelby GT500 dealer demo car for half price? It seems like there aren't that many...

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Also good luck finding one with the 40X trigger. According to Remington's website all the new XCRII's come with the XMark Pro. The Trinyte coating might be good for a factory finish but how would it hold up against Cerakote or even Duracoat. If your still over in the sand box then you've got plenty of time to do some research that'll get you a rifle your really happy with. As far as the finishes the one to beat right now is Cerakote and you could do it or have someone else do it for a reasonable price, and it wouldn't have to be silver. If I were buying a hunting rig I wouldn't want a flashy color. Also I don't see any flutes on the barrel. They look like they are just longer sporter contour's. The CDL's, Sendero, and some of the Varmint have fluted barrel's. I'd suggest going through and looking at the new ones they have and finding which one you wanted if you can't find a used on that will work. Do you have a particular caliber your looking for? What stock were you wanting to go with?

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Well, I call them flutes, shallow flutes and you may call them contours. I meant the X Mark Pro adjustable, not the 40x. Of all the things I read about that Trinyte coating, it seems to do the trick. I will not be hunting on coastlines, so don't need to worry about salt corrosion, as some people do. I am definitely taking the plastic Bell and Carlson stock off and replacing it with a laminated wood thumbhole (varmint style) from Stocky's. I know they are somewhat new, and there aren't many out there that are used, but it never hurts to ask. I did, however, find that Shelby you were looking for, but it needs an engine, transmission, frame, body front end and a few more smaller details. It does have nice seats though, damn nice seats. I am searching for the rifle in .300 winnie, because I can't seem to make good kill shots on prarie dogs and crows so I need something a little bigger.

He's talking about the XCR compact tactical/or tactical I would assume, not the XCRII sporter

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

You need a 300 win mag to kill crows and Prarie dogs?

Please send pictures of elephant sized p-dogs. I wish to stay away from that loc.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Look man all your doing is going around and asking other people what should I buy. What case, what rifle. Is there a scope and rings thread too? The only reason I didn't start telling you to use the search function is your profile says your in A-Stan. So I know what it's like being deployed and realize that you probably don't have alot of free time on your hands. However, I really think you should start over. Go read the FAQ's and the thread about getting started in long range shooting. There's a metric shit ton of info in those threads. Also look at the caliber comparison thread and read through it. If your really looking to wack some crows and prarie dogs there's no reason for .300 mag. If you want it to use in inclimate weather a laminated wood stock is a shitty choice. Take your time and learn what you want by reading through the pro's and cons of others peoples opinions. If you want us to tell you what you should buy then send us a check and we'll go buy it and hold it for you till you get home. On that note stay alert, stay alive, and get home safe.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Hey brother, don't hold back cause I am back in the sandbox, this is my fifth deployment. I have researched plenty, and if you will look through any of my posts, or ask any of the members on here, I ALWAYS search before I ask. I was just asking a few last questions before I bought. Whenever I come back into the COP from our firebase, I stay on this topic until I have to get my gear back together and roll out. I have done tons of legwork, and have shot a great deal too. The crow and p dog statement was a joke. I have a .223 for that. Also, I am an infantryman, so I know a "little" about guns being that I have stayed with the scouts almost all of my career. Don't worry, I'm not one of these phags who just comes on here with a checkbook. I have asked enough specific questions to make someone sick, and yes, just finalized a deal on the scope yesterday. Thanks for the input though, I will always take it.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Well FWIW the xmark triggers are usually pretty shitty. They might feel nice at first because your used to trigger on your M4. Find a place where they have some rifles set up with either a Jewell, Shilen, or Timney trigger and then decide which one you want. I still think the laminated stock is a bad choice for any inclimate weather. However not all are created equal, so if you do wind up getting one make sure it's laminated under the barrel area and sealed up good. If not You know what'll happen. I know they don't have thier guns online but around here the best place to look is Sportsman's Warehouse. I don't know if you have one near Drum or where ever you call home, but if you can't find a used one thats a good place to look.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Not at Drum brother, down at Ft Polk, and Yes, I love it. We are in 4th Brigade, the mountain unit stationed in the swamp. I will check Sportsmen's Warehouse now. Don't have a lot of time, going back out in a day or so. I am on a small COP with about 90 guys, so we are using Haji phone service internet, but we built a firebase and do rotations out there.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Just cruised around Remington's website again and I have to retract my previous statement. They do come in Black and with the 40X trigger. That is a good factory trigger and would save you some money, because you wouldn't need to replace it. Good luck finding one

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

I would give the Sendero SF II a shot and see what you think. The XCR are really hard to come by don't know the case but just are.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

The XCR Compact Tactical rifles come up for sale once and a while but never for a fair price in my opinion. I've looked myself over the months but have yet to find one to buy.............

For some folks that like different roll marks, stampings or markings on their factory and if this is somthing you're looking for then the XCR Tactical is right in your ball-park. Also a bonus for some folks is that they do have a good trigger right from the box, are stainless and the factory finish is pretty tough, maybe not the toughest but pretty darn good.

just my opinion.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

Damn brother, I owe you big time. I really appreciate you taking the time to put that up there. I literally spend every minute of my time when not on patrol on here and other sites searching for the right thing and I have finally found it. I even used our satellite phone to call and reserve one. Thank you very much, you freaking rock.

Re: Where to find blemished, used or demo Remingtons?

You are very welcome. Post up some pics when you get it all kitted up and stretch its legs. I'd love to see how it shoots.
