hey guys im fixing to make a purchase and i cant decide between the 5r or the sps aac? this weapon will mainly be for funa dn punching paper. i know that i will have to upgrade the stock on the aac. im not a fan of the stock on the 5r but could learn to deal with it but will probably wind up replacing it with a mcmillan or manners and then selling it to recoup the costs. my main concerns are that with the shorter barrel i will lose velocity and in a 308 i really want all i can get. but if its negligible then it may be better. so i didnt know if i should stick with the 5r because of the loss of velocity and also is the 5 rifling better than standard? the reason ive narrowed it down to these two is because the twist of the aac and the length, rifling and twist of the 5r. also is the action a little smoother in the 5r vs the aac? i can spend the extra on the 5r but i wanted to get some input on how the loss of velocity imnpacts the 308. i would like to shoot out of the box without much mods so that i could learn and have some fun and then upgrade as i go. thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Re: which 700?

As far as barrel length and velocity what you will loose is unsubstantial. Besides its not anything some good load development can't make up for.I would go with the rifle in the post above from buds. Best of both worlds. And if you plan on packing this rifle around for hunting and such you'll be way happier with the 20" tube. IMHO

thanks guys. i was kind of leaning towards the 5r but i wanted some advice from the experts on this board. my dad and i reload so im sure we could make up the difference but like i said this will be for fun punching holes in paper. thanks guys
