Hey fellas I am about to get my rifle back from the smith and I wanna round up some bullets. What bullets are you guys having the most luck with. The rifle will have a 26inch 1-8.5 twist bartlein barrel. I will be using it for long range praire dog and 1000 yard steel shooting. Are the 139 scenars a good choice, I also hear a lot about the 123s and 130 bergers.

Thanks

Re: Which bullet for 6.5x47

My accuracy nodes are in a Border 5R, 1:8.5, 28" :
Scenar 139gr @ 835m/s : 1/3 MOA@300m
Scenar 123gr @ 875m/s : 1/3 MOA@300m but less wind drift with that combo.

I keep the first load (139gr) for 0-300m range.

The second seems to be more accurate, but the issue is still the triger puller.

I like the 142g SMKs myself. I like to load my rounds off the lands, and the SMKs really shine in that situation.

I'm getting around 2800 from a 24" Bartlein.

Im a fan of the 140 AMAX seated 15 thousanths off the lands, im pushing mine roughly 2800 fps out of a 24" 8 Twist Krieger.

ETA:
This velocity is 260 Rem speed, sorry for the confusion. I still like the AMAX

Re: Which bullet for 6.5x47

If you can locate some 130 JLK's they have the same form factor as the 140's and have an exceptional BC. 140 Bergers and 140 JLK's are great as Chad suggested, the 130's give you some flexibility with velocity and still have a tested BC around .620 IIRC...

Re: Which bullet for 6.5x47

I only developed through the 123 and 139 Scenars....the 139's shot better groups in my gun. I was really hoping the 123's would shoot better for the extra fps but as usual the rifle decides.
