Hey guys, I have a rem 700 sps tact .308 that i'm going to customize. I have a Mcmillan A5 on order from JW Percision. Once the stock comes in I'm gonna send the entire gun to SAC for some work.

I'm going to order a barrel from either Bartlien or Rock Creek. I want either a M24 contour or an MTU contour with 1/10 twist in a 24''. The gun will be used for range trips out to 300 yrds so i'm not worried about weight.

I love the look of a big heavy barrel even if I don't really need it.
Is the MTU the thicker barrel of the two.

Pics of the M24 compared to the Mtu would be awesome

From Rock Creek:

M24/M40 1.20" - 0.900" 4" - 26" 27"
AMU/MTU 1.25" - 0.900" 5" - 29" 30"

"Is the MTU the thicker barrel of the two?"

Yes, but I hardly think you could visually see much difference between them.

Running a 26" barrel from Rock on a 308 with an M24/40 contour. The only time I have moved up to a MTU contour was for a 300WM. The M24/40 contour is plenty big. If you are not waiting on components, I might recommend, looking to Rock Creek over Bartlein right now. My statement has nothing to do with quality at all, but given my recent ordering history with Rock Creek, they might be able to turn you around a little faster.
