What? Was it an ignorant statement to say that the fit of the upper to the lower has no effect on accuracy? I think the guy is right. It has no effect on accuracy. I've never seen one instance where taking the slop out of the receivers improved accuracy.
If you want to take the slop out, I've seen guys put o-rings around the front lug of the upper receiver. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, I do recall seeing a few articles over the years that say that a little slop is good for accuracy because as the rifle heats up, there is less pressure on the upper that could cause parts to distort and cause a POI shift.
