Which Electronic Powder Dispenser is your favorite and why?

I have a Giraud and RCBS products of the same. I would get them all. They all save a lot of time and when combined, make reloading even more fun.

The girraud is INVALUABLE. Saves you the trouble of chamfering necks.

I am trying to get out of the habit of having them all....

I already have two Dillon 1050's one 650 and enough associated shit to fill a storage shed for my 3 gun habit....

This precision rifle thing is gonna be different by god.....or maybe not

but don't talk about the cost of the thing, for a budget and fairly accurate one you may wish to check out the charge master RCBS has , I like it, for what I need to do, for a couple hundred $$$ as opposed to a couple thousand. BUT don't get me wrong if I was really well off I'd have all the Gucci kit, to each his own.

I have a Lyman 1200 DPS 3 and I have to say, I am not thrilled with it. When loading larger rod powders it overthrows by almost 2 grains. For instance, If I am loading 65.5 granis of 4831, I have to tell it to throw 64 grains and that gets it within +-.3 grains. You have to constantly remove or add grains to get the right reading. Even when it reads out at 65.5 grains, when checked with other scales, it can be off a few tenths. It also constantly recalibrates which can get frustrating. The scale readout also takes about 5 seconds to adjust for changes.

I just bought a RCBS chargemaster system and I love it. It only took me a few minutes to set it up and get loading. I had been having hell with my groups, kept getting 1 or 2 flyer out of every group that I determined from my velocities was due to inconsistent charge. This cured that. No more flyers(at least from the loads. I pulled one but I knew it when I did it). I highly recommend the RCBS. Natchez has them on sale right now for $279 + shipping. Mine was $290 shipped from them and got here in 3 days.

I'm planning on getting an RCBS Chargemaster. It's around $300 and folks are saying it works pretty well. My pockets aren't deep enough for the prometheus or I'd go that route.

Hey - don't forget about the RCBS Chargemaster mod ideas. You can reprogram it and also folks are adding a McDonald's straw (I shit you not) to make it work even better.

No doubt, since I reprogramed my Cmaster It's spitting out very accurate loads. 300 bucks is well worth it. Sorry but the prometheus is way way outta my budget for reloading. It' as a nice suggestion for the well off reloader, or if you're being sponsored by one of the large firearm companies.

Electric dispensers are a concession I'm unwilling to make.

I have owned the Lyman 1200 DPS 3 and I currently own the RCBS Chargemaster. The Lyman was a terrible device. Like was posted above, mine would not throw an accurate charge for nothing. When you factor in the re-do's and adjustment a regular powder dispenser (RCBS Uni-Flo) is more accurate than the Lyman and 10 times as fast. Don't get the Lyman.

I would look seriously at the Hornady model. It looks like a carbon copy of the chargemaster but with some nicer features. I assume it has a good, accurate scale.

You will not beat a good mechanical thrower,wearing a micrometer reference turret and that for accuracy,speed,durability and precision.

I've had a Lyman 1200 for several years and have no problem. Have to use the bushing on larger powders and it slows it down a tad, but still easier than throwing a charge and having to trickle. I don't have any hard feelings toward it.

The sole purpose of a good thrower,is to throw good charges,which is easily arranged.

Some of us own Ferarri's, live in Huntington Beach, CA, and own a Prometheus electronic scale. Most of us get by with German cars, the suburbs, and a RCBS Chargemaster.
