Which Pod Claw?

I'm tired the feet on my Harris slipping on the bench. I've heard good things about the Pod Claws. I have a Harris "S" type with notched legs so I understand that I'll need the Leg lock screws. I just don't know which size Pod Claw I need. My rifle is a Remginton 5r, currently in the HS Precision but I plan on going to an ACIS is that will make any difference in this decision.

i find the smaller ones to be better, i think there 2 or 2.5
I have a set of 3" and they are a bit more cumbersome. to me anyway. I have one small set as well, and they are just as stable as the larger. IMO anyway.

If you really want it to sit still, there are also the "spikes" as well. Each foot is one single point. They work well.

I rarely shoot off of a bench any more. When I do, I bring a 1x2 and a couple Pony clamps. 1x2 gets clamped to the front of the the bench... voila. No more bipod slip. Cheaper than Pod Claws, too.

Yeah, yeah.... I know... "If it's slipping you're loading it wrong". Whatever. It's not slipping any more!

I have heard good things about the Pod Claws, I would have to go with the samller ones if it were me.

Paul,
The small Claws were designed to give more barrel clearance on thinner stock profiles.
McMillan, Manners, AI, or AR rail systems keep the large Claws from coming in contact with a barrel when the bipod is folded.
On HS Precision or Remington PSS style stocks you should use the small Claws.
You won't find the small Claws performing any less than the large Claw.
They both grip like hell and give you a wide flat profile to distribute your weight.

Yup they are great. I've had the large, the small, and the rubber coated skis at one point or another. They are all fantastic. The large ones were too big for my barrel/stock combo so I ended up using the smalls and the skis the most.

But if you get the claws, get the little cordura bag to go with them. Those suckers are sharp and leave gashes.

Speaking of the Cordura bag, just for info, the bag covers BOTH claws. It is not two little bags one for each claw like I thought. Otherwise the bag does protect your barrel, but you still have to fold the bipod legs to put on the bag since it goes over both claws. So, when you fold the legs, don't just slam 'em down, you have to control the fold so you don't ram a claw foot into your barrel - ask me how I know :0

Hope this keeps someone else from being surprised with the cover.

Oh, and the claws are great, they really change the dynamics of the bipod when on grass/dirt. You can really push into the bipod with them on with no chance of slipping. Only problem I have had with the claws is when I went to a different range and shot from a granite top bench. Then they acted kinda like ice skates until I taped some carpet to the bench top.

Edit: While I am thinking about it, Cheese, could you possibly make two smaller bags, one for each foot, and maybe cover the bottom with rubber/neoprene? That would allow you to keep the bags on when shooting from a hard top bench/car hood, but remove them for grass/dirt. Just an idea.

When you get tired of shooting from a bench, have Cheese do a full conversion of your bipod to the "5.5 Tac" with the blade feet... its the shit for field shooting IMHO.

We do have the rubber MOUT footings.
Not as aggressive as any of the Claws however they perform very well in loose soil as well as flat surfaces.
That's what the system was designed for. One bipod several different options.

Cheese, Hate to say it, but I have some of those feet on another bipod. They do work well as advertised on the bench and on the ground, just not as good as claws on the ground. I definitely don't think there is anything bad about the MOUT footings, but I do have to say I am not very good at changing out the feet in a quick fashion.

I guess I was just looking for the "MocClawsins". Maybe I will see if one of the Cordura guys on here could whip something up to try out. Maybe epoxy some friction tape to the bottom of the bag and see how it does.

Definitely not knocking your products, I love 'em.
