hey guys, someone answer me this riddle. since i'm new to lr shooting, i'm trying to learn as much as I can then sort through it all. I have a savage 110 30.06 that I want to learn to shoot accurately long range. In trying to set up a card for my rifle, this is what I have found. I have always shot 150 gr factory ammo as the thought of reloading my own still scares the begeezers out of me. when I mapped out the flight of the 150 gr vs 180 gr, I was very surprised. I thought the 150 would fly flatter, but not quite the case. with a 100 yard zero, the 150 aim is high 3.57 @200 - the 180 aim is high 4.22, kind of like lobbing a softball vs fastball, more of an arc I get that. 150 500 yds= 60.03 vs 180 500 yds= 64.70, here is where it gets weird, at 800 150= 241.75 and 180 =242.40 almost even, but at 900 150= 349.91 vs 180= 343.50 and at 1000 150=488.11 vs. 471.90 so it looks like between800 and 850 the 150 is dropping more. should I plan on using both cardriges with different cards depending on the range? what exactly is going on here. any help would be appreciated.
