Which tumbler/media???

Which tumbler/media combonation do you guys use?

I'm thinking of buying the Dillon 750 and using Lyman's tuff nut and corn cob in a 50/50 mix.

Or can I get good results from treated corn cob alone???

Thoughts/comments???

That's what Bryan said... He mixes it 50/50 with the corn cob.

I was just concerned about dust...

Berry's tumbler using the same fiddy/fiddy mix above. I throw in a dryer sheet that eliminates dust and half a cap of Nu Finish car wax. Cases come out very clean and shiney...

i use walnut media with a little bit of car wax. it has worked great so far. as for dust is concerned, the tumbler runs outside.

Back several years ago I bought a dozen 2 bushel bags of corn cob grit. I'm still using it. I had not been able to find it for several months. When I did I bought a bunch of it. If you go directly to the mill you can get it at a price break if you get a lot of it.

After every use of pouring almost everything into the sifter, most of the dust is left in the tumbler dish. A wet paper towel will pick up most of it.

dust isn't an issue if it is running outside.

I meant dust on the brass after tumbling...
Seems like the Lymans Tuffnut would leave dust..

When I went to clean the primer holes after tumbling there was no dust on/in the cases. The polish/wax helps with that.

What's the deal with stainless media. I would think it would beat up brass???? Does media go inside the case and then you just dump it out???

There are a few threads on the stainless media. One of them is crazy long. Basically, the media is really small. It has no peening affect on the brass. Suasponte or someone in that thread weighed some cases over time and showed no appreciable difference in weight.

I recently got the Hornady ultrasonic case cleaner but haven't used it yet. Bought it mostly for 5.7x28 cases as they have a coating that tumbling will damage over time.

I use a midway/frankford arsenal tumbler with corn cob media and frankford arsenal tumbler additive. It works very well for me. I tried walnut media but found that it leaves a dusty film on the cases. If I have any really nasty brass I will still use walnut and then finish in corn cob but I really don't use any really nasty brass, I just chuck it. The RCBS walnut media comes with a powdered additive and I found that combo worked well and I don't remember it having the dusty issue. For the most part I just get the midway bulk corn corb combined with the Midway/Frankford case cleaner additive. It smells good too

I really love the stainless media method in the ubde thread. It is a little pricier initially but I like the idea of super clean brass, inside and out. It looks better than it did from the factory if you follow the directions.

You can use "used" drier sheets to collect dust from the media. Just throw one sheet in the tumbler.

You can get big bags of walnut from pet smart. It's real cheap and then you can mix it with other stuff.

About the SS media. If you read that thread, it has a top secert type air. You cannot tell where it came from, where you got it, or who you got it from. Made me wonder if the guy was stealing it from work or it was radio active etc. I did not want to get involved with someone who was afrad to post their name. Bit of a spy game.

I disagree. All you have to do is send PM to suasponte here on the Hide and he will give you the gentleman's contact info. Nothing secret at all. No one is stealing anything. He is having it cut to to his specs and buying bulk. Both Mark and Terry are good people, easy to talk to, and Mark stands behind his product. No need to slander him at all.

I beleive your way off base! If there was anything shady don't you think in the years time that these threads have been going someone would have bitched about Mark or myself. With close to 60,000 views and almost 800 repleis in just the testimonial thread alone!!!

Mark is one off the nicest guys you would want to talk to!

Everyone on Snipers Hide and many other forums all know where the Media came from.

It has been posted multiple times that Mark does not want his personal info post on the WWW for the world to have access to!
If you cannot respect that then tuff shit!

I have yet to see one negative remark either here or on any other forum.
