Gunsmithing Whidden aluminum V-block ???

Re: Whidden aluminum V-block ???

I'm not ignoring you, I just can't answer your questions.

My Whidden bedding block is not cut out for a repeater, and I had it bedded in a Master Class laminated stock, solid bottom, not cut out for a mag. I have no idea if it was a routine bedding job or not.

My main reason for going this way was to be able to use the same stock for multiple Rem 700 pattern barelled actions, and have been happy with it.

Re: Whidden aluminum V-block ???

Well I guess I am one of the few "been there done that" guys. I had one of our Marine snipers request the Whidden block and Badger DBM in a McMillan.

It worked out just fine and shoots great - would I recommend it - no. I had to whittle away more material than I wanted to make the two fit properly. Bedding the Whidden wasn't a big deal but I could have bedded the action just as quick and eliminated the time making the two fit properly together.

Here are some pics of the finished gun - as I mentioned it was built for one of our Marine Snipers - nickname "the Ghost" - hence the slab side with engraved name.

The v block will work for repeaters, I have the first prototype in my rifle. Use to work for John Whidden part time installing the v-blocks. Give them a call and talk to Burke, also there is a new V-block with bottom metal integrated into it.
