You chose to live there, you knew that inevitably you'd get wiped out by one, so don't start crying about aid when it happens. You could move inland today and eliminate any chance for it to happen. Just like living in the shadow of a volcano or in or near a major crime filled city. You knew the risks and you stayed, now suck it up.
